Today we’d like to introduce you to Syann Williams.
Syann, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have the “Soul Food” type of family where we cooked together and ate together. I started cooking in kitchen with my grandparents. My grandfather is an excellent chef, and so is my aunt. As you can see I started cooking at A very young age. However, the chefs in my family are self-taught. I’m the only one who went to Culinary school. I enrolled at The Art Institute Of Atlanta at the age of 17, right after I graduated high school. While in culinary school, I got my first job in the industry working for one of the best catering companies in Atlanta. Bold American Catering helped open many doors for me. Who knew that the following ten years of my career would be filled with working for Atlanta’s best restaurants, stadiums, hotels, food truck companies, Hospitals, The Coca-cola Headquarters, and the list goes on.
My talents ventured off and got me a chance to go work In Hawaii on the best cruise ships, I even got A chance to travel up and down the Mississippi River cooking on the best steamboat companies. Even with all this experience I was getting over the years, I knew deep down I wanted to be my own boss and have A successful catering business. So today at the age of 27 I have A small Growing business called Kravee Kitchenz! Kravee Kitchenz specializes in Feeding any and everyone who’s hungry! We do any type of catering, plate deliveries, listening parties, private events at your home, baby showers, and anything else you may need!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being A women In a male-dominated industry has its daily struggles.
Because I was 17 starting in the industry, I had a lot of places who choose the candidates who were A bit older and who had more knowledge in the kitchen.
Culinary school is very expensive! Although I wanted A Bachelors degree, I got my Associates degree instead because the payments every month became overwhelming.
I did not have A car majority of my career, so working three jobs and going to culinary school while on marta can be pretty frustrating.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kravee Kitchenz – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Kravee Kitchenz specializes In catering {weddings, baby showers, listening parties, holiday parties, club appearances, ect} we also specialize in private events at our clients home as well. We are Known for BIG portions of beautifully plated food!
What sets Kravee Kitchenz apart is the fusion of foods! You will NOT find any other catering/food business with the same flavors and techniques.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan on expanding Kravee Kitchenz In A Major way! I would to enter the food truck game, I want to be able to travel all over Atlanta and drop off good food. In addition to what we already do! I also plan on taking the food truck on the road as well. The goal is to be known worldwide!
