Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Williams.
Tamara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My family and I relocated from New Jersey to Georgia three years ago in the pursuit of a less hectic lifestyle. We wanted to be able to create a space that allowed more family time and less hours working, living in NJ proved to be the opposite. I no longer desired to stay in my current field as it had often come with long hours, stress and deadlines. So, I decided that it was time to switch gears, pursue my passion and CREATE the life that I wanted. I’ve always been intrigued by Beauty and skincare so it was an easy decision for me to attend Paul Mitchell the School Esani. There, I was equipped with the education and experience that gave me the confidence to start my own business. I no longer wanted to be an employee; but an employer. My entrepreneurship journey has been amazing! It has not been easy; but it has definitely been worth it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business, especially in the beauty industry, has its challenges because you have to prove yourself in an overly saturated market.
Building your brand and establishing clientele takes time. It’s scary in the beginning. There are moments of frustrations and feeling discouraged but that’s a natural part of the entrepreneurial process. I’m grateful to have the support of my husband and family. They are my encouragement and keep me grounded. You have to focus on what sets YOU apart from others and be authentic and passionate with your craft; people feel that. Effective marketing helps too!
