Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamarah Tolbert.
Tamarah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since childhood, I have taken photographs of candid moments in my day to day routine. With those photos, I would assemble photos chronologically into albums. I developed a passion for storytelling using photographs and albums that depict phenomenal stories.
I am a full-time mother of two, wife and a Travel Registered Nurse currently at Grady Hospital specializing in MICU and CV-ICU. Completing another contract assignment. I recently arrived back from Newyork from a travel nurse contract. Are you wondering how I have the time to inject one more craft in my life? It’s simple. I am thrilled to have a job that allows me to explore my creativity while documenting significant moments in your lives.
At every photo session, I learn something about love, life, or something about relationships. It is a tremendous honor to witness and document the love, emotion, and growing relationships with clients who choose me. I am grateful everyday to have such a fulfilling job. I describe my photography as honest, sincere and intimate.
My primary focus now is the beauty of raw emotion found in each moment. I love the romance of weddings and the delight and innocence of children. I approach each event and each session with attention, honesty, and love. I put my heart and soul into my work, and I believe that it shows in my photographs.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I would say the struggles have been when I first started photography and people were just finding out who I was as a photography company and I was competing with picture people, jc penny and those small photography companies in the mall that were well known. People wouldn’t give you a chance, however, once you started to build a brand and people saw your quality of work, word of mouth about your company happened and the referrals just started flowing in. I remember they would say wow, you do such good work for cheap and the quality of your pictures were amazing. Now that im a various amount of my clients family photographer, they come back every season, every event and every special moment in their life and they refer their friends and family. It has been such a blessing and we’re so thankful.

My company specializes in lifestyle photography that includes newborns and adults. All of the wonderful things that can be captured during a newborn to an adult lifestyle we capture and embrace the beauty of it. As a company, I’m most proud of being able to give back to the community sometimes with families and at events by offering volunteer work with my photography. My company also offers payment plans up until the day of your scheduled shoot. So you worry free when you’re coming to take your pictures.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, there is nothing I would have changed. I embrace the growth that has embodied me to be humble and continue to love what I do with my passion for photography.
