Meet Tameka Jones of RoyalTee in Stockbridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tameka Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always wanted to be on television since I was very young. The struggles of life and being a foster child made me believe that I was only destined to go to school, so that’s what I did until I realized I could do whatever I set my mind to. I started my modeling career in 2009 when I went to a casting call for Killeen Royalty Models in Killeen, Texas. At that time, I honestly did not think I was going to get cast, but what did I have to lose? At the end of the casting call, I was actually one of the chosen few to be apart of the team. When I tell you we worked our butts off, that’s exactly what I mean. We did everything such as parades, talent shows, photoshoots, magazine articles, runway shows, fashion shows, choreographed routines. My life was super busy but I immediately fell in love with the business and knew that this is where I belonged. Killeen Royalty Models closed the business so at this time I decided to focus solely on school. I received my Associate’s degree in Executive Assistant and Business Management, but I still felt as if something was missing. I continued to model periodically and hosted a lot of events to get a name for myself.

In November of 2018, I moved to Atlanta due to unforeseen circumstances. When I got here, I assumed I would continue to do modeling gigs and host events. God had other plans. When I got here, I got into the background acting world. I’ve been booked and busy ever since. I have worked on many productions so far and have officially been cast in two independent films where I actually have speaking roles.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Being a single mother trying to live your dream is hard in itself. The work is very inconsistent so you have to have another income to compensate for the time that you aren’t getting booked and to make sure that you keep food on the table. You have to make sure that your wardrobe is on point and you aren’t wearing the same things in shoots so I worked so hard to make sure the bills were paid and I could keep up with shoots. When moving to Atlanta, I moved in with a friend, but even she had a time limit on her help. So, I had to battle potential homelessness as well.

Please tell us about RoyalTee.
I am in the entertainment industry. I have a variety of talents to include acting, modeling, hosting, promoting, and sometimes exotic dancing. I am known for my modeling mostly because I have done that the longest. I am most proud of continuing to push forward no matter what obstacles stand in my way. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I get the job done better than most. My drive is like no other. I go for what I want and accomplish my goals.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Honestly, I do not have one. I had a hard childhood. I was just thankful to have made it through it and into adulthood alive.
