Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamika Jackson.
Tamika, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m the Founder of Jackson Financial Consulting. I’m an Accountant by Trade with a Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management and like most people in my profession, I’m an advocate for financial literacy.
The lack of financial literacy in under-served communities is what inspired me to create Jackson Financial Consulting. I wanted to give back to youth and adults in under-served communities to ensure that future generations will be ready to face any and every financial challenge.
Donations, Sponsorship, and Fundraising efforts allow JFC to offer “FREE” Financial Literacy workshops, each quarter. We currently offer three re-occurring workshops per quarter (Budgeting, Credit Repair, and Self-Directed Investing).
Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? I would say, “NO”. Like any nonprofit we’ve experienced some struggles along the way. Sponsorship, donations, and getting people to attend after signing up have been challenging. We may get 50-100 people to sign-up but a fraction of those attend.
Please tell us about Jackson Financial Consulting.
Jackson Financial Consulting, Inc. is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization that offers free financial Education and literacy workshops to the community and various organizations. Founded by Tamika Jackson, MAFA, AFSP in 2018.
JFC mission is to confront the challenges of the community by helping youth and adults build financial knowledge, develop confidence, and become more savvy to improve credit, reduce debt, and save.
The more people know about credit and debt reduction, the more likely they are to make informed decisions on money matters, save money, and improve their financial health and well-being.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next 5-10 years. I foresee growth and more partnerships with local organizations, Public School System, and traveling to more cities promoting Financial Literacy.
