Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Moore.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
For the past 17 years, I have served as a Mortgage Consultant, Sales Manager, and Senior Division President. This experience has given me an extensive knowledge of the entire lending process.
In my current position as Division President and a member of the Executive Management Team, I am doing what I love best managing a great team and working with clients, servicing their lending needs. As one of the top FHA and VA Mortgage Originators, I am dedicated to making sure my clients are informed homebuyers. I conduct credit and homebuyer’s seminars throughout the year to make sure the community is informed of the constant changes in the mortgage industry and home buying process.
My motto is “it’s not if you will buy a home but when!” I truly believe that you can do anything you put your mind and heart to and I am here to make my customer achieve their dream of homeownership! As a Credit Coach, my mission is to educate, empower and encourage individuals, couples’ families and organizations throughout the world to take control of their credit, finances and household budget, so they can experience financial freedom and peace of mind.
I was my first student! I went through a divorce years ago and was forced to file bankruptcy and had a home that almost went into foreclosure. I did not reach out to a credit repair company to help me with my credit, I worked on my credit on my own. I read, research and gained a wealth of knowledge. “I witness my credit and my current husband’s credit goes from the low 500s to over 800. From that experience, I promised myself that I would try to help as many people as I could to improve their finances, net worth, credit scores and achieve the dream of homeownership!
We (my husband and I, along with countless others) are the proof in the pudding that my system works! Throughout the years I have encountered many clients who had given up on the dream of homeownership because of their credit impairments. Instead of turning them away and telling them you don’t qualify for a home currently, I begin to study the credit reporting process and advising them on how to improve their scores.
I also help my clients establish a realistic household budget and how them how to find extra money to pay down their debts to work towards becoming debt free.

• Follow up consultations after an event
• Before a mortgage pre-approval
• After the home loan closing (if needed)
When I am not taking care of my clients or conducting seminars, I am a dedicated wife to Derrick and mother to Devin and two bonus children, DeAndre and Keshia. I am also a Glam Mom to Joshua and Derrick II. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, shopping (bargain fashionista) and interior decorating. I am a woman of great faith which truly drives my commitment to my business and the community. I know that God has blessed me so that I can be a blessing to others.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Finding my place in a male-dominated industry was an obstacle initially, but I made it my stepping stone. Earning the trust of your partners and your clients was also an obstacle.
Confidentially is everything when you’re dealing with credit and finances. I worked to prove that my black-owned business has something valuable to offer and 17 years later, I am a trusted advisor!
The most difficult day of my career was in August of 2007 when our company imploded during the mortgage crisis. I had to deliver this news to my staff, it was heartbreaking. I’m proud to say no one walked out, we all worked without getting paid for 2 weeks to get our pending loans placed with other banks until we found a new company! Out of that fiasco, Diamond Residential was born!

I’ve always admired Oprah Winfrey. My determination came from my Mother, Grandmother and my Aunts. They all taught me that there are no limits to what I can do (with God). They have always been active in the community. Each one of them set a great example of what a humble servant leader should exemplify, I am so grateful for my village!
My mentors are Esterle Coburn (one of the first women to own a mortgage company in Lake County, IL) and Gwen Broughton (one of the first African American women to get a broker license in Lake County, IL) who have been in the Mortgage/Real Estate Industry for over 70 years combined. They took me under their wings and trained me to strive for greatness!
