Today we’d like to introduce you to Taurea Avant.
Taurea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is that I moved to Atlanta in 2009 to launch my media company. By that time, I had tried it all when it comes to being a “trypreneur.” I had been in a travel business, sold knives, vacuum cleaners, insurance, door to door sales, I even was a bails bondwoman. One thing with everything is that I was also very good a quitting, everything I started. After my father passed away from cancer, I moved to Atlanta and started this business that didn’t do well at all; HOWEVER, one of my clients introduced me to a woman in the network marketing space.
I went on to build a six-figure income in that company. We were selling weight loss products and our most known product was call the body magic. I left that company as a Diamond President and went on to work with a coffee business in network marketing. I also then became a Diamond in that company earning over six-figures per year as well. Around 2014-2015, I fell into a DEEP depression due to a lot of crazy situations in my life. From relationships being damaged to my passion being stripped to losing the love of my life. There was just so much going on. It had gotten so bad that I even considered no longer living anymore, however, I was too afraid to do anything that I knew would be 100%. So since God gave me fear to take my own life, I decided it was time to have faith in him.
This is when I decided to do something that I was passionate about and get into the space of education. I never wanted to be called a coach but I did always love teaching. LOL back when I was young, people called me bossy. I didn’t think I was bossy though, I just always felt like I was trying to help people. Anywho it has always been in my blood since as long as I can remember. I ended up writing my first book back in 2014. My purpose of writing the book was to grow my network marketing business. However, to be honest, I really was tired of the industry. I didn’t want to grow my organization anymore. Our mentor always told us that some of the leaders would stay in the industry and some would leave and start something else. I am grateful to the industry because, without it, I would not be who I am today. I’ve since written more than 15+ books and also have built some to be Amazon top sellers.
So it’s around June of 2014, I had already started doing workshops and my very first workshop was at a location in Atlantic Station that is no longer there. I did my first workshop and fell in love. It took me a bit of time to really go full-time with my workshops and coaching but I eventually did. Since back then, I’ve now helped more than 5000 people. My main niche is helping speakers and coaches to write books to grow their business. Many people see me as a book publisher but I am not. I am a coach. Our process goes far beyond just the completion of a book but helping our “Certified Authorpreneurs” to now write a book to grow and expand their business.
In 2019 I also started a non-profit organization called Urban CEO Network. As a woman from the Urban Community, my goal is to be able to help men and women not go through some of the challenges I’ve health with. The fact that I am a 1st generation entrepreneur, many of the things I’ve learned either have cost me a lot of time with mistakes or a lot of money with coaching. I know that everyone doesn’t have the resources like I did so I wanted to create something that could help get any man or woman started in business and also give them ideas of opportunities out there. My mission in life is to impact the lives of more than 10,000,000 men and women in mind, body and soul.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh, no life has been a challenge. As I stated before, I went through a deep depression and honestly did not want to live. In fact, I even wrote a book about overcoming depression. Mental health is so real and I always tell people that if you are an entrepreneur, it’s highly likely you might deal with some sort of mental health challenges. However, I believe nothing is worth having if it comes easy to you.

Book Profits Club is designed to help speakers and coaches write books to grow their business. I also teach how to deliver a talk to get more people connected to your coaching business as well Urban CEO Network is a non-profit organization designed to be the bridge between the urban community and business success.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan is to impact the lives of 10,000,000 men and women in mind, body and soul. My goal for 2020 is to help 1000+ more speakers and coaches become “certified authorprenuers.” For Urban CEO our goal is to have more than 250 Academy Members joining us and launching their businesses.
