Meet Tawana Carter of The Branding University in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawana Carter.

Tawana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I own a Business to Business Marketing & Branding Agency located in Atlanta.

I’ve built a strong local and National presence through an unmatched approach to branding and marketing. I’m a Chicago native who attended school in Arizona, I started off in the corporate world but soon found that entrepreneurship was a better fit for me.

I’ve had the pleasure of working behind countless business brands, with top athletes, local entertainers, various nightclubs & local restaurants throughout my years here in Atlanta.

The Branding University is an agency that specializes in strategizing, creating and managing digital content to build relationships for organizations, business, and individuals who seek to grow their personal and professional brands.

I have an innate passion for helping small businesses grow because I fully understand their unlimited power when given the proper assistance. My success is solely centered on helping others reach their full potential. I am also heavily involved in the community and philanthropic work, knowing that achievements in life mean assisting those that many others may ignore. Various times out of the year I organize events that benefit the homeless and underserved around Atlanta. I learned early in life that a leader is someone who can connect with everyone, I do my best to meet people where they are and help them grow!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not smooth at all lol, the polar opposite! I’ve gone thru many struggles while on this journey, Where do I begin, this entrepreneur life is hard and overly glamorized, Social media has been the gift and curse of business it showing a highlight reel of what day to day is when the back side sometimes means poorly planned partnerships, Lack of women in leadership roles, the struggle for client to pay, etc.. I could go on for days.

The Branding University – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
In a nutshell… We Build Businesses…

We Specialize in business to business marketing which includes but not limited to social media management, graphic & digital design, website Development, marketing campaigns, content creation & business education.

What sets me apart is that I enjoy the education portion of my business not only doing for clients but teaching them so that they understand why these things are important in any business or brand building process and in the future, they can handle somethings on their own.

I am most proud of seeing the success of the businesses and brands that we help develop. Seeing a rise in sales, seeing growth of an idea turn into a profitable business for clients makes me happy.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
The definition of Success is a mix for me it comes from hard lessons & failure, If we don’t ever try we don’t know what works, every client and project is different for me so it’s hard to give a flat answer overall. Success, for me, is making a difference in other people’s lives daily. Being confident in my abilities, but generous in the way of helping pay it forward. I want to be recognized as someone who always gives her best & tries hard to achieve her goals.
