Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay Lang.
Tay, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
A few years ago, I began a journey of self-discovery and a spiritual awakening that totally transformed me. I moved to Atlanta in 2013 with my life all figured out. Shortly after moving to Atlanta I lost my job and went through a period of homelessness with my two sons. We moved around for six months living in and out of homeless shelters, hotels and my car. I always knew I could make it through anything but this period of my life tested me to the max.
I eventually got a full-time job, moved into a home and became somewhat stable. My finances were smoothing out but there was still a part of me that wasn’t completely balanced. I still had days of depression and sadness that would over-shadow my good moments. I began to journal and I spent quite a bit of time meditating. I also began learning about crystal healing, chakra balancing and different self-care and mindfulness techniques. I even did an extensive family history research and began learning more about my ancestors.
My journal entries eventually turned into an online journal via what was just supposed to be a blog, Dear Life Chat. I began to have conversations with my own life and shared them with the public. That is why my slogan is “Dear Life: What can we chat about today? Life is questioned. Life provides the answer.” I believe everything you need to know about yourself is hidden deep within yourself. Just ask and the answers will find you.
One day I decided to expose myself to something new and different. I did not know what I was searching for specifically but I knew I would know it when I saw it. I bought a ticket to a nude yoga retreat, that was by far the best thing I could have ever done for myself. During the nude yoga retreat which was held right here in Atlanta I experienced yoga, meditation and a sound bath that totally transformed me. During our retreat, I was exposed to crystal quartz singing bowls that really caught my attention. I began to research the benefits of sound healing. I purchased my first singing bowl, which was a Tibetan bowl and then eventually I purchased a set of crystal quartz singing bowls.
I began offering mindfulness sessions to parents in the East Atlanta community and eventually added all of my mindfulness sessions and services via Dear Life Chat. I offer sound bath and meditation sessions in group settings as well as one on one personal sessions. I teach others how to be mindful and an overall balanced human.
Dear Life Chat was only supposed to be a blog birthed during darkness but has since not only brightened my life but the lives of others I interact with.
Has it been a smooth road?
In building my business it has not been easy. I have had to learn how to balance my home life, full-time day-job life and running a business all at the same time. Some days are easier than others but I do know that I am called to do this wellness and holistic work. When there are periods of things moving slowly, I choose to use that time as an opportunity to rejuvenate and practice my own self-care.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dear Life Chat – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Dear Life Chat offers alternative and holistic services for any individual. I specialize in sound bath meditations with the use of crystal quartz singing bowls that are designed to unblock your chakras and bring harmony within your body, mind and spirit. Each sound bath session is unique to the group or individual receiving the service. I also offer readings, holistic remedy suggestions and “venting” sessions. I provide readings for adults and children both in person and virtually. I love all things natural and have a wealth of knowledge regarding holistic alternatives. And if you just need a listening ear to vent to, I offer “Talk Therapy with Tay” sessions which is a combination of life coaching and mindfulness coaching. I am most proud of being able to introduce so many people to something new and witness their transformation. What sets me apart from others is my commitment to others and my passion for wellness and how I give 110% to each client, whether new or returning.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how Atlanta is a melting pot of so many cultures and people from all walks of life. I love how open-minded we can be as a city and how we still have southern charm. The only thing I like least about our city would be the traffic. But I have learned to leave at least an hour early and usually have no problems being on time.
