Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Johnson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story started in Long Island, New York. I lived there for the first 14 years of my life before moving to Fayetteville, GA. From Fayetteville, I went to Valdosta State University where I discovered my love for storytelling. I declared my major to be Journalism because I wanted to write for articles for a popular urban magazine such as XXL, or Complex, but after opening my mind even further, I discovered that I’d want to tell both fictional and nonfictional stories through film. I am in the preproduction phases of producing my first big project and it has been a much anticipated but highly nerve-wracking experience thus far. Much of the hard part about producing such a film is just starting and more importantly, knowing where to start. I am, however, looking forward to embarking on this journey new journey as we all have to remember that even the greatest director’s and producer’s of all time had to start somewhere.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As I mentioned before, this hasn’t been a smooth road for me at all but it almost never is when you’re trying to do something great. One of my biggest struggles so far has been researching where to start. I didn’t know whether I’d need to try to film the best I could, or try to receive funding for the project, or should I start filming with my current equipment, and go from there. I also had to think about which people I’d want to work with, and what kind of compensation would they receive. I’m learning, however, that it will be different depending upon which genre of documentary and what resources you have available.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with About a Dream & Company – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company does photography and videography for events. I don’t think we’re known for anything in particular as of yet, but the goal is to transition our company into our purpose, which will be creating entertaining content that will mean something far past when we leave this Earth. I’m most proud that through everything we’ve dealt with, that we haven’t stopped. Life has forced us to maybe take a break and refocus, but we’ve never stopped and we know that this is just the beginning.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to begin filming within the next month. I would like to get all of my legal documents in a row as well. Besides that, we’re going to be growing a day at a time, learning from our mistakes and molding this idea into an actual production that can be appreciated by the masses.
