So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Traveling has always been a dream of mine, When I was younger my god family always took me on summer vacations to different parts of Florida. As I got older, the trips stopped. I always thought about the beach and wished I could go back. Don’t get me wrong, I always enjoyed my summers but something about being on the beach always excited me. As I got older, I would always say I am going to go on vacation, but of course, life doesn’t always go as planned. I started college, was working two jobs so I never seemed to find the time to go. Finally, in May 2013, all of my hard work paid off, I went on my first cruise to the Bahamas and spent a few nights in Orlando. Having that week off made me realize the importance of traveling especially when you work so hard. Everyone should reward themselves.
The following year in 2014, I graduated and made sure I had a spring break to remember. I went to Miami for the first time and couldn’t believe I was missing out on spring break trips this whole time. At that moment, I made it a priority to go on at least one trip every year. Fast forward to September 2015, I am scrolling on Groupon and came across an amazing deal to Punta Cana. I couldn’t believe it, I sent it to my friends, they were down and we booked without hesitation. My first trip out of the country for only $699. In my eyes, we were winning. We had an amazing time and vowed to take a trip out of the country every year. Which is still a thing! I ended up getting a job traveling domestically which open so many doors. Countless SkyMiles and hotel points earned, with more trips out of the country free of cost. So far, I have been to 13 countries with more trips booked and in the making. It is definitely such a blessing. Many people started to reach out asking me to help them plan trips. To me, it was second nature because I really enjoyed looking up different packages and destinations.
As time passed and speaking to others, I realized there were so many people who have never been out of the city, the state and the country. Many people were needing help and looking for ways to start their travel adventures. I always wanted to get into the travel agency world but I ran into so many pyramid schemes, or companies you have to pay monthly, etc. so I got discouraged and gave up. With God’s plan, a few months later, I met a young lady who had her own agency and helped me get started. She was definitely a blessing. She provided me step by step assistance and was always one message a way. March 1, 2019, Five Seven One Travel (5 Oceans 7 Continents 1 You) was launched. Since then, I have booked 24 trips which has been so shocking. Majority of my clients are people I’ve never been in contact within my life. It is truly amazing. I really take pride in making my client’s travel experience stress-free and hassle-free as possible. This is just the beginning for Five Seven One Travel!
Has it been a smooth road?
Once my LLC was approved, I had no idea where to start. I researched and finally figured somethings out. Signing up with suppliers is very time consuming and takes days sometimes weeks to be approved. Not having access to all suppliers has caused me to turn down clients because I do not have access to packages for their destinations. But I had to learn that I will not be able to help everyone. As a first-time business owner, I begin to get discouraged because I am so eager and want to book everyone who reaches out. One major struggle was having my first fraudulent client within a few weeks of starting. It really broke me because I lost a major supplier just when I started to get a swing of things. I was really upset but it made me realize I have to take extra precaution when it comes to people and their inquiries. With help from my amazing support system, it keeps me encouraged to keep pushing.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Five Seven One Travel story. Tell us more about the business.
Five Seven One Travel (5 Oceans 7 Continents 1 You) is a travel agency. I specialize in researching the best deals when it comes to planning a trip. Any trips that are packaged or bundled I am able to book. This includes flight and hotels, flight and rentals cars, hotels and rental cars and hotels alone. Majority of the trips I have booked has been out of the country but I have helped a few people get to places domestically as well. Receiving client cams and feedback brings me the most joy. So many clients have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for my help. I really take booking trips serious which set me apart from others. Once someone reaches out for an inquiry, I pride myself with quick responses. I know how stressful it is when it comes to booking and planning a trip, especially when it is for a group. Ensuring clients have detailed information and prices to provide to their family and friends in a timely manner makes organizing a trip easier. My clients are always able to get in contact with me quickly without long turn around times. So far, my company has received so much positive feedback.
