Meet Tiara Robinson of Tipsy Dollas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiara Robinson.

Tiara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since my high school days, I’ve always had an interest in bartending. I used to watch a lot of music videos and they made bartending seem so glamorous and fun. My first job was as a waitress at the age of 14. Since a young age I’ve always enjoyed working in the food/beverage industry and interacting with people.

My desire to learn more about the bartending industry prompted me to attend bartending school in 2017, where I learned so much about crafting cocktails, observing people’s behavior changes, obtaining liquor permits and licenses and more. I received my mixology certification and started working at a variety of bars including, restaurants, concert venues and a bowling alley. After realizing how much I really enjoyed crafting cocktails and meeting new people, I decided to start my bartending business in 2018.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not always been a smooth road! The journey of entrepreneurship really challenges you and forces you out of your comfort zone. There have been plenty of times when I wanted to give up when the business was not going as I hoped; however, I had to remind myself why I started Tipsy Dollas – to use my creativity, connect with people and make money. This business has definitely enabled me to think outside of the box to come up with creative ways to market and brand the business and has enabled me to learn a lot about the industry and myself.

Please tell us about Tipsy Dollas.
Tipsy Dollas is a mobile bartending company that specializes in creating an unforgettable bar experience by curating amazing drinks with impeccable presentation. We book for all kinds of events, including birthday parties, weddings, corporate events and even kid events where we create mocktails (non-alcoholic drinks). We also offer drink stations set-up and custom drink bottles for those who want our cocktails but don’t necessarily need a bartender.

As a company, I’m most proud of my growth. Tipsy Dollas has come a long way and everyday, I’m constantly learning new ways to make Tipsy Dollas even better for my clients, whether that’s offering more bar options or simply crafting cocktails that fits their needs. What sets me apart from the others is that I know how to have fun but still be professional. The bartender is the person who sets the vibes for the event by making amazing drinks and engaging in upbeat conversations with the guests – pretty much we get things poppin’! With that, it’s important to have fun and interact with your client and the guests, but still stay professional.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could do anything differently, I would have done more research on the business side of bartending. The customer service side I was very comfortable with. However, I’ve learned that having a mobile bartending company is more than just being able to connect with people and make drinks. You have to market, brand yourself, network and much more.
