Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Stevens.
Angela is a serial entrepreneur in the beauty space with an immense passion for hair care. With over 13 years of professional experience as a hair artist and entrepreneur, Angela has made quite an impact in the beauty industry. Some of Angela’s titles include Salon Owner, Celebrity Hairstylist, Brand Consultant, Brand Ambassador, Educator, TV Personality and now Author.
Her versatility with beauty is unmatched, as an extension expert, color specialist, and natural hair maven, Angela C Styles embodies the true definition of a master of her craft. Angela’s abilities in education, public speaking, and creative consulting have further expanded her professional avenues beyond the styling chair. She has pioneered salon concepts for brands like Good Hair (NYC) and Tantris while managing her private west Hollywood salon. As an educator and brand ambassador, Angela has represented brands like Mielle organics, ORS, Girl and Hair, Universal Beauty products, Kenra and collaborated with many others.
AC was a series regular on We TV’s La Hair and an instrumental piece to show’s 4 seasons success. Her television resume is unmatched with additional appearances on productions under VH1, BET, FOX, NBC and WE TV. She has worked with some of music and entertainments top icons including Rihanna, Keke Palmer, Rita Ora, 5th Harmony, and countless others.
Through the years Angela’s passion for hair care and education became her primary focus as she continued to expand within her career. From that passion, she created “Hair” a children’s book to help shed light on the importance of loving and taking care of the hair we are born with, while positively changing the narrative about curly hair. “Hair” is the first of many books Angela plans to create from her publishing company “The Pretty Curls Club” to unify and educate young women of all ethnicities on the importance of self-confidence, diversity, and friendship.
In addition to promoting her passion through literature, Angela currently styles rapper/actress Eve on CBS The Talk daily, while also catering to clients in her West Hollywood salon.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth but very exciting at times and challenging at other times. Also, personal growth greatly dictates how you grow with your passion, sometimes that growth can be unexpected and forces unexpected change. I once had an extreme love for branding myself as an extension specialist and transformed into more of an advocate of the natural hair movement. That same year, I launched an extensions company, I want expecting to not feel good about promoting weaves and wigs anymore, but that happened. I just wanted to explore and encourage women to accept their identity, so it felt silly to say “Hey, buy these bundles too.” I’m still working on my messaging because I truly do believe in both.
Also, doing reality tv was great exposure but I didn’t love the way I was being exposed. My character and professionalism were questioned and I didn’t like how it made me look but you have to take the good with the bad. I have since then been working tremendously hard to show my audience who I really am because of that. But that exposure jumpstarted my career so I’m forever grateful.
Lastly, missing events, losing friends, sacrificing time with family to chase your dreams and show up for opportunities is a constant struggle. It gets easier when you accept that you can’t do it all but those personal moments are just as important as the professional ones…

I’m known for being a well-versed hair stylist. Do you want to go natural? I can show you. You want a painless beautiful weave or wig I can give you that. Color, no problem. A dope and versatile haircut, I got you. I literally can do every service well, but my love is hair care. Let’s start and end with hair care, the rest is up to you. I’m also known for giving options, not pigeonholing clients into something just because I said so, I take the approach of, ok you want a look, here are the way(s) we can go about it…
Additionally, I’m more of a maven at articulating the how and why to other stylists in the classroom or to consumers on my youtube channel. I’m best at breaking things down in ways that help create more understanding.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My mother and grandmother first. They are humble, happy, and giving women. Both educators who had a love for family. My mom is a cancer survivor, she got her masters while on Chemo, need I say more?
Other inspirations are Maya Angelou, Madam CJ Walker, Nina Simone, James Baldwin, and Maxine Waters to name a few. I just appreciate the visionary brothers and sisters that paved their own way and made in difference in the lives of so many others at the same time. The social responsibility component is key for me. It’s great to be talented and successful, but what are you saying behind that? What are you doing for the community and others? As I grow professionally, the only projects I’m apart of have to be innovative and do something positive for a community, period.
