Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelley Raye.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started taking photos at age. Not with the intention of becoming a photographer, just because it was my favorite thing to do. I’ve wanted to be my own boss since maybe the age of 8. I used to keep ‘business plans’ of all these companies I would start in notebooks. I think I still have a few. After college, I went into the corporate world like most, working my way up through the ranks with a hospitality company in Atlanta. I never really knew how I was going to get to the point of working for myself or even that my childhood hobby of photography would be the avenue, but I knew it would eventually come. About 5 years ago, I started my own photography company and left the corporate world behind. It has been an amazing journey so far.
Has it been a smooth road?
The beauty of entrepreneurship is that its a roller coaster of emotions, opportunities, good days, bad days, panic attacks and aha moments. Entrepreneurship is constantly learning new things about yourself and evolving in areas like strength, resilience, patience, and gratitude. If you are just starting out, my best advice would be to go easy on yourself. I know for a fact that I am my hardest critic, and most bad days are just a result of me beating my own self up about something that’s probably not even that serious. Always be open to learning and growing. Also, a Creative Entrepreneur can’t be all about business or we dim our own light, so remember to have fun too!
We’d love to hear more about Kelley Raye – Photographer.
I am a lifestyle photographer specializing in weddings and branding sessions for female entrepreneurs. I absolutely adore the relationships that I am able to form through my photography. I love watching my clients launch their business websites, introduce themselves to the world, quit their jobs, and relish in the fact that they look damn good in the images we create (especially the shy ones). I am most proud that I have been afforded the opportunity to be bi-coastal, because traveling is my favorite thing in the world, and I am now able to serve just as many clients in Los Angeles as I do in Atlanta.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
Wanderlist, TripIt, and Calendly help me live my best-organized life, without those apps I wouldn’t know which way was up. For podcasts, my go-to’s are Being Boss and anything featuring Gabrielle Bernstein or Elizabeth Gilbert.
