Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Ramsey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lindsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was working in our family business but knew it wasn’t my passion. I gave my husband notice that when our kids were in school full time I would be searching out my path in life. As luck would have it, one of his tenants, who happened to be a commercial realtor, needed an assistant. I took the job which leads to that broker encouraging me to get my real estate license (he even paid for my school). Sadly, he passed away shortly after I got my license but his encouragement spurred me on to continue in Real Estate as a residential specialist. I’ve been in the business for five years and have loved every minute of it! I spend a tremendous amount of time educating myself in my field and building my brand focusing on social media and plain old fashioned connection. My goal is to bring value to my clients so I become their go-to Realtor for as long as they buy and sell homes. This past year, I took the leap and got my brokers license in an effort to create opportunities for my future. These past few years stretched me personally as I am now a business owner and the face of my brand. Marketing yourself can be terrifying and awkward but when you’ve found your passion it’s worth the risk!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The journey to success has not been smooth. When you own your own business, you put a tremendous amount of pressure on yourself to succeed. You have to choose every single day to work your business, even when success doesn’t seem to be in sight. It’s the consistency of daily habits and surrounding yourself with people who truly support the mission that gets you to your goals. Mindset is everything. My advice: find your passion, create habits, work the habits with consistency and watch your business grow.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a residential Real Estate Agent. More specifically I am an Associate Broker. The line ‘everyone knows a realtor’ couldn’t be more true so setting yourself apart is a big challenge. I focus a lot on education for my sphere. I love to make short videos that I think will help people with their real estate needs. I also like to include the whole family when I am working with a client. Selling or buying a home is a BIG deal for everyone in the family, so it’s important to me to make sure the kids feel a part of the process as well. My business is very much so a family business in that I bring my husband and kids in to help with mailings, errands, fix-it jobs. They are a life saver for me. I honestly couldn’t succeed in the field without support at home.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Absolutely! My mom is a big planner. She is a details queen and I am so thankful that she passed that trait onto me. It takes a good balance of personality and organization to run your own business. It took me a long time to step to the front (I worked back office jobs until I was 36). Once I gained enough confidence to realize that I can not only master the administrative side of my business, but also the sales aspects things started clicking.
