Meet Trailblazer Sarah Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Miller.

Sarah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My path starts out of college. I wanted to be a lawyer and only wanted to go to Florida State College of Law. I didn’t get accepted so I found an opportunity in Property Management. I worked my way up from leasing to management and enjoyed a thriving career for ten years. After three years as an Association Manager for some premier buildings and areas throughout the city, I made the leap into a new career direction as a Realtor in 2016.

In 2017, I joined the Ben Kinney Team Atlanta. The Ben Kinney Team is the #1 group nationally in Keller Williams. We are working to grow our team and business throughout metro Atlanta. Our mission is “Delivering the Dream of Home Ownership Everywhere.” My biggest reward as an agent is helping people buy homes that they never thought they could own or purchase. To help my clients create a legacy and build wealth. I enjoy being an entrepreneur and running my own business. I helped 15 families last year and look forward to helping, even more, this year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s funny, my road from college, in Property Management and as a Realtor has never been a smooth one. I haven’t always taken the easy way toward success. In college, I had to go to community college before getting back to FSU and graduating later than I planned. I didn’t get into law school like I planned and found my first position in leasing apartments almost by accident. With both some good and bad decisions along the way, I became a Property Manager in a short period of time. I won accolades and was promoted due to various facets of success. I also failed and/or was fired in a few jobs. My decision to become a Realtor was quick and ill-prepared yet also a leap of faith. Many of my transactions have been delayed, pushed back, had challenges to overcome along with my clients. I persevered through every challenge. My advice: It’s important to have people, family or friends who support your dreams. To write down your plans and keep those goals in front of you every step of the way. Hard work and tenacity must drive you to every finish line. Finding a mentor who will guide and support was critical to my process. I had many people along my path who believed in me and helped encourage me. Change: (I have been told to always) “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.” (At) Keller Williams, they talk about finding and knowing your “big why” which will motivate and (be the driver) each day toward success in your goals. For me, my faith and my son push me to never give up.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Realtor. I am both a Buyer’s Agent and a Listing Agent as part of our team’s model. I specialize in helping the first time home buyers and our team specializes in getting homes sold for top dollar in a quick time frame. A Realtor’s job is more than showing homes, it’s being a negotiator, a mediator, a connector and a confidant. We take clients through the contract to closing process and work hard to make it as seamless as possible. We strive to provide value to our clients and help them reach their goals. Our mission to “Deliver the Dream of Home Ownership Everywhere is what I most proud of. We help our clients not only buy homes but provide education on building wealth. The vision states we will “Give Millions” and from our CEO to our first year agents, giving to others whether time or money is an important aspect of our business. What sets us apart is our attitude, our resources, and our reach. Our teamwork, track record, marketing, and communication is what makes the brand translate with success in multiple locations across the country. The agents on the Ben Kinney Team work hard for our clients and encourage each other to live our best lives and be leaders in our community.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
The Ben Kinney Team and Keller Williams provide training, coaching and mentoring. This has always extended outside of our company walls to others inside and outside the industry. There are resources for growth at all levels whether in their first year or 10th year of business. They say you will be most like the top 5 people you surround yourself with. Seek out those people both in your industry and outside to connect with and gain wisdom from. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek out answers. I am not afraid to ask for help from anyone. I use social media for networking, along with vendor relationships, charity organizations and supporting friends in their businesses. When you encourage others they are also willing to share their success and failures.
