Today we’d like to introduce you to Terri Watson.
Terri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started doing makeup early 2017. It was a long journey and very rewarding, I managed my business while juggling being a full-time student and a part-time job. Being a makeup artist has challenged me for sure. I have made it this far by being persistent, humble, and hopeful for the future.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been smooth at all. when I started doing makeup, I did struggle but not much because the demands were not there. During my last semester of undergrad, I really struggled with balance. I was starting to get behind in my classes and wonder if makeup was even for me. I was booked every weekend like clockwork. I made sure to stay focused and kept in mind that I am doing all of this “struggling” for a good reason!

I specialize in Soft glam makeup artistry. I am most proud of my brand because I made things happen even though I would never have imagined being a makeup artist. I tell people all the time that makeup fell into my lap. Even though I was not necessarily ready for the ride, I took a lot of pride in it and knew that I could make it into something great.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Yes and no. I think that the people that I knew growing up played a part in my success. There were many things that people said to me that I kept with me for years. For example, I was always told that I was a hard worker and I believe that 100% after looking back on the things that I have done with my brand.
