Meet Trailblazer Yasmine Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yasmine Smith.

Yasmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a wife and a mother of two. I come from a background of Cosmetology and a very talented family. I’ve always had a job in a salon but when I got married and started my family, our plan was for me to become a housewife. With that, came more time and an open opportunity to express my talents. So I pursued all my talents & more. I live for Hair, Makeup and Nails. My first job at 9 was a receptionist/shampoo assistant. I continued as a shampoo assistant for over 12 years. I learned a lot and enjoyed every moment but becoming a Wife, Mom and Homemaker sparked a flame in me.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every road has bumps and different obstacles that come along with getting to where you need to be or where you want to be. My journey was a bit difficult because I do so many things. Hair, Nails and Makeup (competitive fields), they were never consistent enough for me. So with that, I had more time on my hands and I decided I wanted a KitchenAid blender. As crazy as it sounds for someone who never really liked to cook or bake, it hit me and it was something that I wanted to try. My husband purchased a blender for me and from there, it was on and Poppin LOL. I had my first little gig, one of my close friends had her baby shower and I did her dessert table and from there that little flame turned into a full-force fire. Unique Sweets and Treats By Yazzy was born.

Now, a few years later, I have a home baking business and I work for a great Nail Salon & Beauty Bar (Pure Bliss) in Duluth, GA. I have the most supportive family/friends around me. They keep me motivated, they keep me going and it’s very encouraging. I also have a YouTube Channel called Yazzy’s World, where I share a little of my personal life, tutorials and recipes.

My advice for someone else would be, to always keep God first and everything else will follow. You are your own competition never forget that.!

We’d love to hear more about Yazzys_World_ & Unique Sweets & Treats By Yazzy.
I’m a Nail Technician at Pure Bliss Nail Salon & Beauty Bar located in Duluth, Ga. We’re an Upscale Nail Bar and we offer Makeup and Waxing services. I’m also a Homebaker, I enjoying making Candy Apples, Baking Homemade Cakes, Cupcakes, etc.

What I love most about everything I do, is that I can make everyone feel good. If it’s not making your hands and feet feel great. I can make your heart smile with a delicious homemade dessert. It’s all about making my customers happy. I’m proud of where I am today in life, I’m still on an awesome journey and I have many more goals I want to accomplish.

I take into consideration what my clients/customers want. But what sets me apart from others is that I’m very honest about what I can and cannot do. I’m not one to do something for the pretty penny that may come along with it. It’s not about the quantity, it’s the quality for me.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
My mentor is my Mother… she showed my sister & I how to be independent strong women. She let me express myself at a very young age and has always been a source of encouragement & inspiration to me. My parents are awesome true supports/fans still to this day.
