Meet Trevis T.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevis T.

Trevis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As long as I can remember, I have been interested in music. My parents played Earth Wind and Fire, The Winans, and Stevie Wonder just to name a few. I played in the band in middle and high school starting on saxophone then moving to tuba and sousaphone in the marching band( S/O Stephenson High )

I loved to play music, but I preferred to make my own songs. I taught myself piano in order to play in a Jazz band and then started writing songs. I was in a few rap groups over the years and we performed at the Atrium in Stone Mountain, The Crowes Nest, and Megaplex (circa 2001-2003). Finally, I started my solo career while in college at Full Sail University. I blended the sounds and vibe of growing up on the Eastside and the new cultures I would experience from traveling to give myself my own sound. After losing several friends to gun violence, I made sure to focus on music with good vibes and real stories. With a love for history, latitudes and languages, I released my first world album ” The Independent International ” and followed up with my latest album ” The Coolest Nerd You Know”. Since my start as a solo artist, I have performed throughout the USA and in Ireland, Germany, Lithuania, Brazil, Spain, and Japan.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all. Some of the struggles along the way were finding my unique audience, financing my projects and maintaining the right team and people around me.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am an Independent Hip hop Artist and music producer. Known for good vibes music and touring the world.

I am most proud of: Performing in Tokyo Japan @ Heavy Sick Zero. Producing Music for The USA Network show Burn Notice. Producing Music for the Classic MTV Show “Yo Momma.”

What sets me apart from other artists: I do independent shows (for example in San Marcos, Texas), but I also do international Shows (Sevilla, Spain.) I am an Independent International. Also, I am an aspiring polyglot. I’m fluent in Spanish and rap and sing in Spanish. I know some Portuguese and working on Korean also. In my songs, I often feature a clip of someone speaking another language. Sometimes it’s me other times its a friend or artist I have met traveling the world, not a sample like most people think.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I really don’t believe in luck. However, if we define luck as when preparation and opportunity meet, then I would saying I have been very lucky because I try to be prepared for any situation. Being prepared to perform, having my publishing paperwork already completed, and having my songs on my phone and email are some examples of how I was “lucky ” enough to take advantage of some opportunities.
