Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Anthony.
Troy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been in love with aesthetics, growing up, I just remember being fascinated with the way things looked, just the beauty of things. I would get lost in Paintings, Architecture, Comic books, Fashion, Anime and Nature. I had absolutely no idea these same interests would one day set the foundation for my love of photography. Being born in Boston, Massachusetts, I found myself on countless field trips to every Museum in the City and yet I never remembered seeing myself or any representation of Black artistry. The desire to see myself would later lead me on a journey that ultimately gave me the keys to create through my favorite creative medium, Photography. Once I picked up a camera it became an extension of my arm, it was a new and improved paintbrush for me and I never looked back, I realized I would be creating art for the rest of my life.
Has it been a smooth road?
No truly great story ever starts out easy!!! You can’t name one great movie without adversity!!! You realize on your journey that the path to success is not a straight road. I took time and truly studied the Greats!! My inspirations in photography aren’t necessarily photographers. To me, art is art, so they range from Pablo Picasso to Gordon Parks and Helmut Newton to James Van Der Zee. All artists who pushed the creative envelope and blazed new trails. I studied the way light would fall on a subject and how to invoke emotion into my imagery and when I felt tired, I worked harder. One of the most rewarding feelings is bringing your idea from conception to reality.

TROY ANTHONY VISUALS was created as a way to get my creative ideas out and have a home to house them. Creating beautiful works of art to be hung on the walls of Museums, homes, offices and anywhere art is appreciated. Collaborating with brands, companies and other creatives with the same vision of creating amazing works and telling great stories through imagery is what we do Best. I want my work to showcase the power and brilliance of the human experience. I want to send a message of greatness and just beautiful images that will stand the test of time. I believe that these core values are instrumental in maintaining any great creative company.
Is our City a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta has been so good to me!!! as an alumnus of Georgia State University, I take pride in doing business here and I’ve received so much love and support from the City. It’s super important to me to continue to build bridges amongst and within the creative community and inspire fellow artists. Atlanta has a way of making people feel special, which is why NOBODY LEAVES!!! It’s an amazing place to start a business if you are willing to work hard to push through the noise. You have to believe in your brand and never look back.
