Meet Troy D. Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy D. Williams.

Williams began his career in the entertainment industry doing runway modeling in 2005. He modeled for F.A C.E.S. Modeling Troupe and Set it Off Productions. It was during his time in F.A.C.E.S. where he would meet his beautiful wife Candace Curry-Williams. After experiencing great success in the modeling industry, Troy walked away from modeling officially in 2008. He then decided to fall back on his degree (UCF- BSBM 2007) and began his career in Corporate America. From 2010-2012 Williams would also have a short stint in Semi-Professional football where he played two seasons with the Orlando Rage. With aspirations to make it to the pro level, Troy would never achieve this goal. However, his career would end on a positive note, the Rage would go on to win a championship in 2012. With his football career behind him, he was looking for something to give him that same adrenaline rush. Williams officially made his acting debut in film, in 2015. He is most known for his lead role in TV Series Fatal Attraction (Murder in Midtown 2020) on TV One, and for his lead role in feature film ‘The Watchman’s Edict’ (now titled Doomsday Clock) (2017) directed by Bryan Boykins — available on Amazon Prime. Troy won Best Actor in 2019 at the Southeast Regional Film Festival. In 2020 he launched his production company, Thoroughbred Films LLC, and began producing content. Troy’s latest film The Book “False Prophet” is set to release in 2022. Williams plays the lead role of Pastor Jack in a powerful faith-based film. Written and Produced by Betty Humphrey Breeden, Directed by Kenneithia Mitchell.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey hasn’t been easy at any point. I currently work in Corporate America, I have a wife and 3 kids, and we have a family business in addition to my production company Thoroughbred Films, LLC. To say my life is busy would be an understatement. Due to this busy life, I have missed out on quite a few big auditions over the years. I’ve also missed out on some amazing workshops. I do not have the type of schedule that just allows me to up and go at a minute’s notice. So it would be ideal to have the type of schedule that allows me to have that type of flexibility, but that is not my story. I embrace it, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The way I see it is I can inspire those our there who have crazy schedules like mine. I know my time is coming.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Troy D. Williams is an Actor/Producer born and raised in Bradenton, FL. A graduate of the University of Central Florida and former Semi-Pro Football Player. Troy made his acting debut in 2015 in short film “Deserving Mercy”. Williams landed his first lead role in a feature film “The Watchman’s Edict” (2017) and also won Best Actor in 2019 at the Southeast Regional Film Festival. In 2020 Troy launched his production company, Thoroughbred Films LLC, and began producing content.

I am most proud of the fact that I have gone against the odds to be at this point in my career. I love the fact that I am continuing to grow and evolve as an actor. My performances are getting stronger and stronger. My passion for acting is stronger today than it was when I first began my journey. This is how I know I am on the right path.

In this industry it is very difficult to stand out. So it’s imperative that you bring something different to the table than every other actor out there. One of the things that sets me apart from others is I’m real, which allows me to be comfortable in my own skin. When I walk in a room people can feel that. We live in a world where so many people are trying to be something that they are not, they lack authenticity. I learned at a young age to embrace being different. Another thing that separated me is the belief I have in myself. I have an athletic background, and when you play sports for your entire life you develop this pedigree of undeniable confidence in yourself and a strong desire to win. This mentality allows me to not see others as competition, but rather see that I am my only competition. Many people say this but don’t truly believe it. I truly believe it and live my life this way. So for me, it’s not a matter of “if” I make it, it’s a matter of “when” I make it. I know that I have already won, I just have to keep putting in the work to reach my full potential. The last thing that separates me is I’ve lived a life full of joy and pain. Too many highs and lows to mention. I’ve been through a lot of situations in my life, which has made me a more well-rounded man. I am able to channel these experiences in my acting.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are too many people to thank, and I do not want to leave anyone out. So with that being said I will just focus it on family. I have to thank my wife Candace Curry-Williams for always believing in me and encouraging me to follow my dreams. She is my biggest inspiration. I have to thank my children- Troy Jr, Tyson, and Aaliyah for giving daddy a true purpose and “why” in life. Everything I do is to provide a better life for them. I have to thank my father (Vincent Williams Sr), mother (Berthenia Chapman), and brother (Vincent Williams Jr) for always loving and supporting me unconditionally. I thank God for my parents, they laid a solid foundation in our upbringing, and they’ve always encouraged us to dream big and go after it. Last but not least I have to thank my acting coach, Actor Chris Greene and the entire Life of an Actor (L.O.A.A.) family. They have all stretched me to become a better actor week in, week out. Chris has taught me so much about the craft and how to be a true storyteller. Because of them I continue to grow in the craft.
