Meet Tyler Papp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Papp.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My interior design dreams started early, following my mom’s passion for design. I knew that’s what I wanted to do from very early on. I finished design school in 2009, the middle of the recession, and had to figure out where my design path was going to take me. I worked in retail furniture stores for a few years, transitioned into kitchen and bath design, and then joined forces with Heather Fulkerson Interiors in 2015. Heather and I went to design school together and have collaborated on projects since then. We kept coming back to each other over the years, so she finally brought me on as her lead designer and we’ve been a dream team since. We work so well together and share a vision of how we want HFI to evolve.

Please tell us about your art.
As an interior designer, I have to bend my creative process around my client’s visions and emotions. I strive to create spaces that feel like my clients and connect to them personally. It’s important to me that every space does tell the story of the homeowner. It really is such an emotional process and I get really involved. I want people to love to come home, to entertain in their space, and to be inspired by their own dwellings. Good interior design can bring all of that and I love that I can help it all come to fruition.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Immerse yourself with other local artists! Get involved & network. We have found so much support in the local design community. We learn from others, help others, and share resources and connections, which help us all grow. A strong community creates a strong foundation and we can all learn from each other. Don’t be afraid to extend a helping hand or offer advice, it always comes back around!

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Instagram. It has become the easiest and quickest way for us to connect with people. It’s an easy place for us to show the entire design process, from start to finish. We love how our client’s comment and give feedback! Find us at @HFInteriors.
