Meet Valencia Holland of The Style Educator

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valencia Holland.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started as the go-to girl for my friends and family when they needed advice on what to wear for their birthdays and other special occasions. In 2010, I discovered that providing style advice could be done on a professional level. After some research, I found the School of Style and attended their pop-up class in NYC. Once I completed the class, I learned about the business side things styling. I began interning in New York City under an Established Stylist. After two years of interning, I founded my Image consulting firm and began taking on my clients and projects. That was in 2012, and I’ve been providing personal style and wardrobe solutions to women ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth but, it’s been worth it. I’ve realized that every struggle was designed to teach me a lesson that I would need moving forward. I remember I wanted to get booked for jobs and wouldn’t get them due to not having a portfolio. In my mind, I’m like how can you build a portfolio if you don’t get booked. Instead of getting discouraged, I decided to hire a photographer, models, hair, make-up, and create my portfolio. It was the best thing I could have ever done because it taught me to invest in myself and never wait on someone to give me an opportunity, instead create my own!

As you know, we’re big fans of The Style Educator. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Style Educator helps women understand their body shape, learn how to dress for their body shape, and build a new wardrobe. Outside of providing exceptional customer service and keep our client’s results as our number one priority. I believe that educating our clients is what sets us apart from others. I’m proud that our brand empowers women to embrace and accept their body just the way it is. Instead of conforming to this idea that they aren’t perfect due to what the mainstream media tells us an ideal body shape is. I want your readers to know that they are beautiful just the way they are whether they are a size 2 or 22. It’s all good! Don’t put pressure on yourself to look or dress like anyone else. Who you are is what makes you unique and if they need help learning how to dress for their body shape they should contact me.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see my industry continuing to go virtual over the next 5-10 years. We already see companies closing their storefronts and only offering online shopping. This changes the way we shop, how we receive goods/services and information. Women are adapting to this way of life more and more every day in search of solutions to what they need online.
