Meet Victoria Warren of TC Productions in Ellenwood Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Warren of TC Productions.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always had an interest in everything art. Growing up, I drew, painted, “invented things” took to music, and had a desire to create. Growing up in a small country town in Florida gave me a lot of time to create and be myself. My mom and siblings moved to Georgia when I was nine and I took to music/playing instruments but kept on creating. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Media/Art since the first time I picked up a flip phone and took pictures of my friends and family lol. So fast forward to high school graduation back in 2014. I got my first camera from my uncle who did journalistic photography. It was a film camera so I had no choice but to know what I was doing, but I knew then I LOVED photography and that I had been right about my passion since I was a kid. I had no clue that I was going to end up loving film as well. I went to Clayton State University as an integrative studies major and then switched to health and fitness management, but I wasn’t happy.

One day my mother (shoutout to you mom lol) sat me down and asked me straight out, “What do you want to do with your life?” I said that I wanted to be a photographer, but I was scared and I didn’t think it was practical. She told me that if I was nervous or afraid to do it then that’s how I know I should do it- and she was right. However, as the years progressed and I got my first digital camera and I entered into the film program at Clayton State, I noticed a lot of people doing the same things with lighting, posing, and all of that stuff. I’ve always been the gal who did things different everywhere I went. I wanted to be creative with my photography and videography which I why I do crazy things with my photography like having an outdoor studio set up or shooting in back yards and thrift stores. Or going into shoots without planning, like how dare I lol. Not giving direction as much, but allowing the subject to be themselves and capturing their natural essence. I love what I do now and I love how my background in art contributes to my work today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has NOT been a smooth road. There have been times where I wanted to quit and do something more practical like becoming a nurse or something. But, I always kept my mothers words in the back of my mind and kept going. One of the hardest things about art is that people think everyone can take a dope picture so they hire the next person with a more expensive camera but no knowledge of how to use it. Or having your art compromised and twisted into something else. Sometimes I deal with people using my photos without giving me credit. It’s not all about the credit, but when you work hard on something or are passionate about something you’ve done, it’s nice to have your name attached to it. Sometimes I deal with people who only see “Photographer” in my bio and hire me to do things that do not fit my taste.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with TC Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My company, “TC Productions”, includes editing, photography, videography, and graphics. It’s gone through many name changes as I’ve evolved as a creator. “TC” stands for every name I’ve gone through: Tori’s Camera, Tori With The Camera, Tori And Her Camera, and Tori’s Camera Productions. Productions represent everything “TC” is about. My company is more than one thing, so simplifying my name and making it sound more professional was a great move for me. Photography is what I am most interested in, but that’s not saying much because I can literally spend days in After Effects making graphics or hours out somewhere shooting video. I can honestly say that the only thing that probably sets me apart from others is that I run my business like a hippie lol. I’m a “go with the flow” kind of gal with a little bit of awkwardness to go along with it. I also like to play with different types of setting and challenge ideas.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future, I plan to travel to more places and do what I love. I also plan to set up an internship program for college students in the arts program to receive college credit. I’ve been through the ordeal of not being able to find a good internship in my field. I plan to host networking events for artists in Atlanta so that we can all connect and get to know each other and collab. I’m all about creatives collaborating. I also plan to do more short films and sketches. I’m currently working on a project to shoot Summer 2020, so I’m looking forward to that.
