Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Lewis.
Yolanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I had no plans to run an enterprise level business, none. However, like my business, my story revealed a need that I, through my business, could be an answer to. So, I went for it. One day at a time and one choice after another (some good and some bad), my mission remains the same; to help others tell their story.
My story wasn’t always easy to tell. Matter of fact it started off pretty ugly. Intimately, I know the struggle and the pain connected to what prevents people from sharing fully to the point of exhausted freedom. Gaining comfortability in unashamedly sharing pain and triumph comes from a personal journey. The path is hard, is filled with loss and grief. But guided by light, it brings great fulfillment to shine with the light of peace from within, sometimes overcast with fear. No, matter how ugly a story may have begun, an author always has the power to make the ending great!
Beginning with the release of my story, I have helped countless others share their story in a way that provokes freedom, inspires release, and in some cases helps them make a profit. As the owner of a multi-level enterprise, Extreme Overflow Enterprises, Inc; a publishing, speaking, and boutique production company, I hold a Bachelors degree in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Operations Management. As a lover of logistics and making things look good, I became a Certified Image Consultant, Etiquette Consultant, and Color Analyst.
Additionally, I am a Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt who continues to work with the best and brightest in the business development and women’s relational health field. As an acclaimed Relationship Mentor, Author of 8 books and Talk Show Host I enjoy creating penetrating conversations that have been shared with people from around the globe.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road to business success. My biggest obstacles were structural and experiential. It took years to figure out a business model that aligned with the actual business goals and deliverables of each dimension of my organization. Using my professional background in banking and technology, I was able to streamline an Agile approach in an industry that modeled more of a waterfall approach to service-related product.
The more this approach was implemented, the more the business found success in time to production, deliverables, and client satisfaction. It was the repeated experience of it all that brought client referrals in the form of business growth.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Extreme Overflow Enterprises is a multidimensional organization.
One of the things I love about our publishing space is that we offer sales coaching to our authors. Experience and research have proven that after an author writes a book they are excited! They are quickly able to sell their book to all of their family and friends. Then, after the launch date has come and gone, all they hear are crickets. We help authors create a real sales strategy, one that can outlive their book launch and get the author out of the thought pattern of trying to “sell books.” It’s never a book you’re selling.
We offer sales training, marketing consultation and branding services to our authors. Additionally, for those who want to write but do not have time to write or just need a bit of guidance in doing so, we also offer writing coaching services. These services help authors with the story and character development before editing begins. We’re not your average publisher and take tremendous pride in being an industry leader for this level of content.
Our speaking dimension is as unique as it is personal. Through a personal lifestyle brand that offers classes, books, and CD’s for leaders, mothers, wives, and the like, everything the audience engages in is designed to take their life to the next level. Our production space houses an exclusive women’s WebTV network where the Grown Women Real Talk Show is watched by thousands of viewers.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up as the oldest child, although I have an older step sister I did not meet until much later in life. I would define my personality as a child as very imaginative. I hosted, produced, and acted in plays that I wrote myself at the tender age of 9 years old.
I wasn’t the type of gal to take no for an answer. I was persistent. Once, I even sold my sister’s toys she got for Christmas to buy my siblings and I ice cream. My parents could afford the ice cream truck, but it just wasn’t a necessity for them. For me, well, I that particular day, I just wanted ice cream. It was good, too!
I was known to sing very loud and smile very big. I owned the playground and loved making new friends no matter where I was. I was affectionately labeled as a “social butterfly,” which got me in a lot of trouble in school.
