Meet Zina Brown of Life Dreams Entertainment in Gwinnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zina Brown.

Zina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I remember watching my father taking pictures and making home movies of the family. I am sure that is one big reason why I love taking pictures and creating videos. After completing my BS in Computer Science at Tennessee State, I went back to IVY Tech college to obtain another degree and learn more about making movies. I loved the classes and was eager to put my training and education to work. I did an internship with a local cable show call ” Man on the Street.” My mentor was Winston, who was a one-man show. He did it all taped, edit, secure interviews, and anything else required for his show. The community-based cable TV show featured community people telling their stories on giving back to the community. With mentorship, training, and education while in school, I create my first cable TV show called “Jumping for Jesus.” It was a show that featured Christian music videos.

Before graduating from IVY Tech, I took a summer film program in Los Angles. After the summer program and going to LA, I was hooked on creating stories. My willingness to learn, my eagerness to create video projects, securing mentors, and courage gave me a great start on many video and film projects to come. The desire to start and have my own business was in my heart as well. So that is what I did. I started my own video business, named Life Dreams Entertainment. It is a boutique video production company located in Georgia.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth but most of the time, enjoyable. I take struggles as a sign of a teachable moment and building a muscle for a bigger task that is coming up. One of the first struggles is working in a male-driven dominated profession, which has taught me to speak up for myself and knows that I bring value to the project. Another struggle is the life-work balance. As an entrepreneur, you wear many hats so I have learned sleep and exercise does the body good. Stress is the number one enemy.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over knowing what I know now, I would tell me to follow my inner spirit more. God gives us all that we need to succeed at birth. I would put more faith in GOD earlier. That is my tip to all that reads this article. Trust God, and he will never let you down.
