Today we’d like to introduce you to Anique Harvey.
Hi Anique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After graduating from college in 2016, I struggled with identifying what exactly my purpose was. I went into corporate America following graduating because it was what was taught to me “go to college and find a good job”. After many years of being the office “event planner”, I took a deeper look into how each time I had the opportunity to plan an office event I would be passionately driven to do my best even sometimes better than my actual job. I took a step out on faith and began looking for a job or even intern position with local luxury wedding and/or event planners. The same day I sent out those emails, I received a response from a highly popular NFL and celebrity wedding and event planner. I took the ultimate leap of faith and quit my job to work as an intern that summer to receive what would be an experience to change my life forever. During my time interning, I fell deeply in love with weddings and events from planning to design to execution. I could literally do it without eating or sleeping! Soon after my internship ending, I took a position with a local non-profit organization in 2017 where I would plan their largest annual fundraising event along with smaller scale corporate events throughout each year. At this time, I also started my company planning mostly family and friends events from weddings to birthdays. Throughout the time I started my business to today, my clientele has continued to grow beyond friends and family! The Alexia Experience specializes in weddings, social and corporate events.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! Being a business owner has its ups and downs but you have to be willing to ride the waves as they come. It’s all in the way you handle the obstacles that may come before you, always think positive and always stay positive. Growing a clientele may be one of the hardest things that I’ve done and still doing even until this day. You have to be willing to put in the hard work and never give up!
