Brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey in the online space with a blog and custom jewelry. Since then, I have been around the block from teaching financial literacy online, website designer, and author. Currently, I have moved into the influencer sphere sharing hair and makeup tips for the everyday woman to add a little glam to her life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is not smooth. The struggles included imposter syndrome, anxiety, and doubt in my abilities. My anxiety became so bad when I had my thriving website business that I ultimately decided to close the business. The very thing I prayed for began to overwhelm me. This round is business. I making sure to take of me as a person before taking care of business even if that means missing out on some things.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create digital content sharing makeup tips and hair tips I have picked up along the way. I have two daughters and I knew when I had them, I would need to embrace my natural hair and natural hairstyles. I’m exploring my hair and taking others along on the journey. The main platforms I focus on are Instagram and YouTube. Both those platforms you can find me under Be On Beat and @beonbeat_. What sets me apart is understanding all the things that stop women from doing their hair and makeup. Examples would be money, kids, competing priorities. But I want to encourage women to take that time on themselves. It can be therapeutic.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is encouraging others. It is something about seeing the light go off for others that makes me happy. Helping people believe in themselves and they are worthy just how they are!
