Rising Stars: Meet Carolyn AKA “Doodle on a Motorcycle”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn AKA “Doodle on a Motorcycle”.

Hi Carolyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started posting videos on YouTube documenting my journey learning to ride. It became quite addicting, and with everything I do, I always strive to do my best. Eventually, I stumbled upon YouTube strategists like Derral Eves and the concept that with the right strategy, this can be a very successful business. Several years later, that’s exactly what my hobby has become: a business. What started out as a way to keep myself accountable with a new and foreign hobby is now my way of going on adventures on motorcycles and sharing it with the world. And I still use my GoPro and iPhone to do it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle was simply not knowing what I didn’t know. I wish I had known to study how people make businesses off of YouTube before recording my first video, instead of four years and 150+ videos into it. It would have been a lot more profitable a lot sooner had I done that…

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make videos on YouTube about motorcycles. Probably what sets me apart in the niche, besides being a minority in the field as a woman and Hispanic, is always striving to challenge myself: ride bikes that others consider “too big” or “too difficult” for a petite female and learning the skills it takes to ride them. And then taking them on 2000 mile destination road trip.

What matters most to you?
Even more important to me than motorcycles is the freedom and financial independence that comes from being my own boss. My salary is no longer capped to a market median. In charge of my own schedule, I can get more done, work more, and still take care of my own needs versus when I was required to do one job at a certain time every day. Life is much more satisfying when you can take charge of your own life, your own schedule, and even your own pay.
