Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Mackey.
Hi Chloe, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always found myself working in spaces that allow me to help others grow, learn, and explore themselves. My first job was in elementary education, meaning that for several years, I hung out with a lot of 6 and 7-year-olds. They were so much fun! I love kids and sincerely miss working with them, but the current state of education in our nation prompted me to expand my professional horizons. Eventually, I transitioned into Corporate Learning and Development, where I facilitated training for managers, ran mentorship programs, designed programs for new college grads entering the workforce, and much more. My corporate job introduced me to the world of Life and Leadership Coaching. We happened to have an incredible coach on staff, and she helped me evolve in unimaginable ways – I was promoted five times in the four years I worked at that company! After experiencing such rapid growth, I knew there was truly some magic to this thing called “coaching.” I spent over 9 months getting certified, and I never looked back! At this point, I’ve been professionally coaching for over three years. I have an awesome private practice as well as contracts with two other major coaching entities. I have had the pleasure of serving hundreds of clients at this point in multiple different countries. Many of the clients I work with currently are Gen Z or Millennials working for Fortune 500 companies.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Transitioning out of my corporate job and into the role of a full-time coach definitely presented challenges! Over the past two years, I’ve had to jump though numerous hoops, partner with a lot of business professionals, and learn many new skills to get my coaching practice off the ground. It also took me several months to get an additional certification through the International Coaching Federation, but doing so was a key step in my professional journey.
While going through this process, I noticed that I was attached to unhelpful “stories” and beliefs that I had picked up while in corporate America – many of these harmful beliefs were centered around productivity, perfectionism, and hustle culture. These beliefs weren’t helpful or sustainable as I learned to work for myself instead of someone else. I needed to spend time reframing what I believed to be true about myself and the working world in general.
Sorting through beliefs that hold us back is a major component of coaching, so I spent the better part of a year working with coaches (and coaching myself) to foster new, strong beliefs that are required to be a confident business owner. Now, helping others foster strong belief in themselves is one of my favorite pass times.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My biggest passion in life is helping people grow and evolve in a positive direction. I believe everyone deserves to lead a balanced and fulfilling life filled with joy and clarity.
As a coach, I provide a caring and safe space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and ideas so that they can move forward confidently and create the life they want.
My approach combines the use of powerful questioning, mindfulness, evidence-based techniques, and other coaching tools to lead clients through a powerful self-discovery process.
I work with clients from all walks of life, but often I specialize in helping high achievers overcome challenges with burnout, people-pleasing, perfectionism, self-compassion, communication, and boundary setting.
Clients achieve goals by amplifying their self-awareness, practicing new skills, focusing on mindset shifts, and crafting personal commitments that actually feel achievable (not overwhelming).
A few things set me apart as a coach – for example, I am on the “younger side” for a coach who is certified by the ICF. The International Coaching Federation, or ICF, is one of the largest and most respected global coaching entities. Obtaining my Associate Coaching Certification through the ICF relatively early on in my coaching career was a huge professional milestone for me. When considering the different coaching organizations I currently work with, I have yet to meet an ICF coach younger than myself.
Additionally, my life experience allows me to foster deep connections with my clients. This ensures clients truly feel seen, heard, and understood. As someone who has moved cross-country, changed careers twice, led large teams of employees, worked with kids, has an autoimmune disease, takes care of a cat and husband, and plenty of other things, I easily find ways to relate with and connect to others.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One fun “about me” fact that always seems to surprise people is that after graduating college, I lived and taught in Alaska for about one year before driving all the way back to my home state of Florida! Nothing says “adventure” quite like shoving all of your belongings in a single car and driving thousands of miles across the country. It was the experience of a lifetime and one of my favorite “life moments” for sure.
