Today we’d like to introduce you to Clare Umberger.
Hi Clare, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I signed with my first talent agent when I was three years old and grew up doing commercial and print work. Some of my favorite memories from my childhood were going to auditions or being on set. I had a gap between middle school and high school – I was dancing most days of the week. I knew acting was something I wanted to continue. When I got to college, I signed with an agency and continued to do more commercial and print work (Mediacom, Oriental Trading) and when I moved back to Minnesota after I graduated, I got into some independent film work there and have loved every second of it. I have taken classes in Dialects, Stage Combat, Improv, etc. Acting is something that I have always been passionate about and I wanted to move somewhere with new opportunities and that’s what brought me to Atlanta.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an actor, you have to be okay with rejection. That’s probably one of the greatest obstacles any performer has is to get past the rejection and keep pushing forward. The role that’s yours is going to be yours and you just have to continue with a positive mindset.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a trained actor and model. I also danced at a studio for 15 years growing up and taught for three years in college. I guess simply my resume is what I’m most proud of! I’ve worked on dramas, had comedic/improvisational gigs, roles where I put my stage combat training to the test. I’ve really had experience with all genres. What sets me apart from others is the duration I’ve been doing this and the growth I’ve had with that. Having the opportunity to find my passion at such a young age is something I’m so grateful for.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that there’s something new to discover everyday! Everyone is so kind and hospitable. The only thing to dislike is maybe the traffic… ha! But that’s something I’m sure I’ll get used to.
