Rising Stars: Meet Diana Cyrill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Cyrill.

Hi Diana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am the CEO & Founder of Shea Bath – a Bath and Body product company. Our goal is to provide relief and education for folks with sensitive dry skin and eczema in a vegan-friendly way.

The products that we create we formed out of a need to relieve the skin allergies I developed many years ago. It took going to the hospital several times, abstaining from using certain products and being on medication for me to research into natural products.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not a smooth road getting here. In my personal journey, I developed my skin allergies later in life and they sent me to the hospital twice before it became a serious condition. Through changing what I used and focusing on how natural products were made – I was able to develop what we have today.

On the business side – well this thing is not for the faint of heart. I have learned the hard way what thick skin means. One day, you are making sales and finding your tribe. And then the next day – you are questioning why you are doing what you are doing because you have no sales.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make natural soap, body butters and sugar scrubs for folks who suffer with dry, sensitive skin. I am most proud of when someone tells me that our goat’s milk oats and honey soap or body butter gives them relief then any of the other products or medications they have been using. I use humor and my love for music to speak to my Tribe about my products and address their issues.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
One important lesson I learned due to the Covid-19 Crisis was to not be afraid to pivot. I had to change from being a face-to-face company to now being exclusively online. It took a little bit of time and I even had to hire a coach to focus. But in the end, we were able to help our Tribe and gain monetary results.
