Today we’d like to introduce you to Haylee Tucker.
Hi Haylee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a young child, I would re-enact everything on film and TV. My parents quickly nurtured my talent, enrolling me into acting classes at the Alliance Theatre. I come from a family with a huge entertainment background. Both of my parents are singers and songwriters. My father owns one of the first African American recording studios in Atlanta, GA. They always instilled endless support in my career.
Once I got into middle school and high school, I got distracted by the norm (boys, friends, captain of the cheer squad, etc.) It wasn’t until my junior year at Georgia State University where my passion was ignited again. I went full force with acting. Auditioning, connecting with mentors, booking, and overall going for what I really wanted in life. I graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications with a minor in Film & Video. Once I graduated, I instantly moved to LA (North Hollywood, CA) for two years. At the end of 2019, I moved back to Atlanta, and in March of 2020, the pandemic had ever at a standstill. Now here I am, in the middle of 2021, even more, ready to reach higher levels than before. It’s only up from here.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey of life is never quite smooth. During life, when you’re chasing your dreams, it’s certainly not smooth. I was faced with many triumphs while chasing my dreams. Just like many of us, doubt, fear, lack of money, and insecurities would come up for me. Even as a child, I was afraid of being successful. I can honestly say that God has been my strength. Every day I wake up and express my gratitude to God. The more I grow, the more I see myself as he sees me. It’s a constant battle, and sometimes I still have my days, but through it, all God be the glory. I’ve come a long way, and I’m not done yet. That’s the mentality that you must keep while climbing up the ladder. Keep the faith and focus, no matter what
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actress, producer, screenwriter, and creative director. I specialize in empathy for others. I assume it’s coming from my upbringing, the many struggles I’ve overcome, and my love for God that allowed me to be so connected with the world. That has allowed me to connect with a storyline and a character in a way that it is heart-felt and believable.
I am most proud of my understanding of life. Rather I have walked that path of the story or not, my empathy and realism have allowed me to pull the words from a script and breathe life into the story. That is what I am most proud of, the fact that I’m so tapped into my feelings and the feelings of others. I am relatable to many situations, I am a visionary, an empath, and I believe that is what sets me apart from others. My heart is in my work, and when you witness it, you witness realness. You can always feel what’s real.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
For me, the most important characteristics to my success have been: faith, gratefulness, resilience, commitment and consistency.
