Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Keith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Keith.

Hi Jasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born in Myrtle Beach, SC, I came out the womb making music. I wrote & recorded my first song when I was just five years old. Years later, I moved to ATL & have been finding my way in music ever since. I dabble in different genres but would say my main genre is dark rnb/alternative. Every day I am striving to better my craft, which can include watching videos, 4am music sessions, & keeping my neighbors up with my bangers. By doing these things, it has molded me into the artist I am today. My music is always based on true events in my life with hope that it reaches people who can relate & helps them feel a little less lonely in this big world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not. Life is highway, but let’s not forget that it still has potholes. Like every human, I have struggled with love/ relationships which is one BIG thing I write about. I do it for all the hopeless romantics out there like myself who hasn’t found that one yet & seems to get caught in nothing but sticky situations. I also have gone through struggles like family troubles, anxiety, & depression. I am blessed that it is never too bad, but we all go through it & without my music and being able to express myself & share these real struggles with the world, idk what I would have done. Lastly, there’s that little voice in the back of your head telling you “you won’t make it in music” & “u aren’t good enough” & having to push through that or push through something like writer’s block. I feel like that issue isn’t talked about enough. All I know is that you have to say adios to that little voice & overcome those fears. Life is YOUR highway. Show those potholes whose the boss.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist/singer who mainly focuses on the vocals & songwriting portion but is NEVER scared to do it all. These past few years, I have written my songs, recorded the vocals, & mixed/mastered every single one on my own. I would say I’m most proud of my album I am currently working on, but also the blood, sweat, tears & EFFORT I have put into my music, especially in this new year. I would say I’m unique when it comes to my craft because I’m not afraid to step outside the box. Yes, I have MY main genre, but I’m not afraid to write an EDM track or a country track or mess with a preset on my vocals. I also use creative wordplay that makes you wanna go back just to make sure you heard that correctly. Overall, my creative mind train never stops chugging & I hope that people see all that hard work & passion I put into every single song in my discography.

How do you define success?
Success to me doesn’t have to be fancy cars, red carpet & a 1 million views. It is that feeling of accomplishment within myself. Knowing my music somehow found its way to someone in Canada just off social media & helped them feel that they aren’t alone. It is that relief of weight off your shoulders when you finally drop that album you’ve been holding back because you had to perfect it. Or just hearing people you know check out your music & say “you’re up next” That is success to me knowing I worked so hard on a project & others can see / hear that passion.
