Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Summers.
Jordan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember I have always loved capturing photos! When I was younger I would use my iPod to take photos of our pets or anything else I could find. When I was about 13 years old, my parents gifted me a Canon camera for Christmas and I fell in love with photography. I started off taking photos of my family and my friends. When I got into high school, I joined the school newspaper and became one of the photographers! Photography became a hobby of mine that I never thought I could turn into a career. Skip forward a bit, I was in my third year of college with 4-degree changes when I realized that my heart truly was with photography. I have been full-time with photography for over a year now and I am so happy I decided to make that decision!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning of my photography journey, I questioned if I could actually make a career out of my hobby. There were a lot of “what ifs” and self-doubt, but I pushed past all of those thoughts and I am so glad I did.
Starting and maintaining a business is a lot harder than most people would think. You are doing the job of way more than just one person, so keeping up with everything can be challenging at times. It took me a while to learn how to manage my time. Running your own business will always have its ups and downs, but if you are doing what you truly love it makes everything worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer! I mainly specialize in couples and weddings, but I also love capturing maternity, family, and senior photos.
I am proud of myself for starting my own business and not giving up when things got hard. I never would have thought that this is what my career would be, and I am so thankful!
I think what sets me apart from others the most is that I truly care about my clients. I’m not just there to get a paycheck- I am there to capture the love and make lasting bonds with my clients. I also like to have fun during sessions! I make sure my clients feel comfortable and carefree in front of the camera.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that there are so many beautiful places to take photos in and around the city! The only downside would have to be the busy traffic.
