Rising Stars: Meet Jordan Wheeler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Wheeler.

Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Being an artist has always been a thought of mine. Growing up without many outlets I always found myself doodling and creating. I began painting Christmas ornaments for a local salon to sell during the holidays and after getting so much support, I decided to dive into more. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, I just knew I wanted to be able to create what I wanted when I wanted. I began cutting my own pieces of wood that I would source from local trucks cutting from the side of the roadways! It quickly became obvious that while I love my dogs so much and was already a part of such a wonderful community through my dog’s Instagram…DOG TAGS! It clicked. It took me two years to jump into opening a business page as well as an Etsy! Fumbling back and forth with the idea, Wildly Worn was envisioned. I quickly gained momentum and even confidence in my artistic ability. I hope to continue to grow and improve. My art is traveling now and I could not be more thrilled to pursue my passion! I hope to be able to sustain my life with art. A passion for animals and art collided and I began painting tags for your pets!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I for sure have struggled with simply believing in myself. But for every misstep I have personally, I am encouraged and humbled by the people who continue to push me! The people who want to see what I do keep me going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
After working full-time at a corporate job, that was merely commission based for four years I decided that when I opened and began the process of Wildly Worn that I should step back and become part-time. Not only to focus on the business but to create a safe place mentally for myself. I began working at my second part-time job to ensure that I could continue living but for the most part, I eat sleep and dream of painting and creating my mini pieces of art. My drive and my ability to do set me apart. Once I know what to do, I will always strive to do the best I can!

What’s next?
Looking to the future is something that I have learned may cause burnout. Burnout is when you stop doing something you love because of pushing yourself to your limit. I think of each day as a potential to create. If that means I plan a tag release then I will. Maybe it means I start working on a bigger piece. It could even mean that I reach out to work with other small businesses. I just enjoy doing what I can as I can. Painting each day, something new!
