Today we’d like to introduce you to Kourtnee Monroe.
Hi Kourtnee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I left my town in Arlington, Texas on a journey of self-improvement and a hunger for more life. I was considered a small-town model discovered in Texas. After being scouted online for an upcoming movie opportunity, I took a flight to New York City with no plans of ever returning to Texas. I worked for small agencies in NYC, doing some television work. I also took some opportunities modeling for fashion shows, such as Kanye West Yeezy fashion show. I have booked many freelance modeling photoshoots with various photographers and brands which have helped to garner experience and an impressive resume.
Eventually, I crossed international borders to work with modeling agencies in Milan, Rome, Italy and most recently, Seoul, South Korea. Unfortunately, the pandemic brought me back to my life in Manhattan, where I have continued to work freelance with various brands. My most recent works are publications are with the popular men’s magazines Playboy and Maxim. I has just recently did a photoshoot publication for FHM in Beverly Hills, California. Being a published model is truly a dream and worth the hard work. My career is now taking me to the West Coast where I will frequently work as a commercial and print model in Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The entertainment industry is not the easiest route to go on, especially in NYC but if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere (or so they say)! I took a risk in 2015, moving from Dallas, TX to NYC all by myself, with no support, no family, and hardly any finances. I certainly don’t recommend anyone else doing that (LOL) but the risk was worth it. The plan was to pursue acting. Although I did have an audition, I did not secure the role, but I had no plans of ever returning to Texas. Living alone in NYC while struggling to network, build a name for yourself, and keep income was a constant hustle. I moved around a lot, had a lot of sleepless nights worrying about my next source of income, and dealt with intense loneliness. Things are insanely different now but I never forget how far I have come and what I went through to accomplish my dream life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an internationally published model. I write poetry and currently have two published books. I am also studying Criminology with plans to work in Forensic psychology. I am most known for my modeling career! My pride for myself comes being 100% in charge of my own brand. Although it is a lot of hard work, staying true to myself and my integrity are most important. Recently I modeled for Maxim Magazine and I am very proud of myself for securing that shoot. I am now working on publications with Playboy and FHM! Very excited about these publications coming soon.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I love studying religions and spirituality although I am not religious. I’m very much into the occult.
