Rising Stars: Meet Lunar Liv

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lunar Liv.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m proud to say I’ve always been a lover of all things magical, colorful, wonky, weird, abstract & emotional. My artistic journey resparked amidst challenging times at the start of 2015, when I found comfort in fluid acrylics and resin work. As I unknowingly turned pain into passion I was connected with what healed me the most; the art of creation. It took a few years to fully embrace my role as an artist but since then I have participated in numerous events, created commissions for local businesses, worked with renowned artists, and have been lead into spaces I used to only dream about. To this day I am continually inspired by my desire to create and ever so grateful to follow my passions fully.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Despite my creative journey starting in the face of chronic illness, today my most challenging aspects are learning to balance the desire to create and the need to care for myself. Creation has always anchored my healing journey and once I became grounded in knowing I needed to follow my creative flow, everything else began to align. Through a whirlwind of challenges, I have gracefully landed here. Understanding that in order to fully pour into my passions and my community, I must first pour into myself, while trusting the divine unfolding of everything I experience. With patience and peace, I have loving learned that the beautiful cycle of artwork will always return itself to the creator with a space to express their magic. For that, I will always be grateful.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My preferred mediums of expression change with the seasons and because of that, I’ve learned to work with a collage of hands-on materials. This year I’ve gravitated towards mixed media projects including woodworking, sculpture paint, clothing items, painted purses and colorful home decor. I love to work with bright colors, eye catching materials, and aim to create art that uplifts th energy of a space.

Sharing my artwork has connected me with the most authentic community, whose support propelled me to trust the thrill of creation, move through the fear of failure and practice my passions. With that being said, I am so proud to be hosting my first Art Show in the city of Atlanta on July 16th, 2022 from 5-9pm.  My business partner, Devan Martin Friedrichs, and I created The Cosmic Roots Collective at the start of this year, under which we will host our first Debut Art Showcase.

We are honored to present an elegant, colorful evening highlighting exclusive artwork from eight select local creators, including ourselves. The hope for The Cosmic Roots Collective is to curate creative spaces that inspire, enrich and connect to our community. With the utmost sincerity and a loving heart, I invite you to join us for our Debut Event. More information can be found in the eventbrite link below.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
It is necessary to share your work. The world needs to see how you express yourself. The voice in your head that critiques you so harshly is usually a liar. If you create, you are an artist; And if you are an artist it is your responsibility to share that with our world. If you’re called to follow creation, I urge you to do so fearlessly. (Or at least breathe through the fear and do it anyway). Perfectionism and comparison are the theft of joy. It will be valuable to learn to love the ugly stages, study your favorite creators, evaluate what you dislike to treasure what you love and find presence in the moments in between.

Sharing your work means you are sharing yourself, and you deserve to be seen.

You’ll be surprised as to what is waiting for you when you do.
