Today we’d like to introduce you to Mo’ney Roseman.
Mo’ney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Watch Me Work Sports while working for a fellowship in Starkville, MS. I had moved from Tampa to Mississippi for a year to expand my horizon within my own career in athletics. I knew the name was golden as soon as I said and wrote it down, I’ve stuck with it ever since. While being a part of the fellowship, I realized I wanted to also help the athletes, not just the fans. My career path at the time was not in recruiting specifically but I wanted it to be somehow. I created my own avenue to help athletes get the assistance they needed thus WMWS was born. Watch Me Work Sports is a 100% free centralized global recruiting exposure platform created for underexposed athletes.
We post and share underrated athletes’ content in hopes to push more exposure to them. We teach athletes that if they cannot continue their athletic career as an athlete, they can still pursue a career within athletics. We teach athletes and families about contact periods with coaches, academic assistance, mental health, and possibly other options outside of being an athlete.
I started out just talking about it for a year and building the platform. For about nine months I developed the brand and made sure the platform was as perfect as it could be and launched it in March 2022. We started at zero everything: zero followers, zero shares, zero likes, just Instagram and the website, zero knowledge to the public of what Watch Me Work Sports was.
Today, five months later, we’ve accumulated over 500 followers on Instagram, and our latest gymnastics video got over 1K views within an hour. We’ve expanded beyond just Instagram, but now to Pinterest, Facebook, Tiktok, and Twitter. Our Pinterest has reached over 130K views since May, our Facebook has gotten recognition and so has our Tiktok with over 10K views on our videos.
We’ve been able to sponsor a 12U travel softball team and get in front of athletes and parents to guide them through the process of recruiting correctly. We’ve also been able to help two recent undergrad graduates get to play Professional Basketball overseas in El Salvador.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road the entire time. Being that Watch Me Work Sports is solely run and funded by me, personal trials and tribulations have made the road a little bumpy but the road never closed. Learning how to market things and be patient with the results was very hard at first but ever so rewarding.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Assistant Director of Ticket Systems and Operations at a D1 University within the Power 5 Conference. (SEC, South Eastern Conference)
I am third in charge of my department and assist and create anything that has to do with any sport we ticket for. I would say I am most proud of accomplishing and beating my own deadlines for my career within three years. Since 2019, I have worked for the University of South Florida, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Rays, Mississippi State University, and now the University of Florida while developing and launching a brand/business.
I am different from others because no matter what personal things I went through, the goal for my future remained the same and become bigger and brighter. I will continuously dedicate myself to my career and my brand.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When I was in search of a Mentor, I honestly went to YouTube and started watching Eric Thomas’s motivational talks. I became a fan of his back in MS and continue to listen to his words to this day. The way he spoke, his consistency, his grind, and his level of dedication to being the best motivational speaker in the world gave me so much fuel in my fire to keep going no matter what. I have also worked on my relationship with God and have been so blessed with my trust and faith in him.
