Today we’d like to introduce you to Sanina Moreland.
Hi Sanina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was introduced to real estate when I started working for a real estate law firm in 2007. It was a brand new field to me, coming from Customer Service at Delta Airlines and the banking industry. I started as an admin and worked my way up to the office manager and Pre & Post Closer for the firm. We handled the South Georgia foreclosures for HUD. As you can imagine, during that time, we were very busy. I learned a lot and loved working with real estate and thought of venturing to the mortgage side of the transactions once our office closed. Instead, I ventured in another new field of staffing and recruiting. I did this for a few years but still was eager to get back into real estate and sought after my real estate license.
As of today, I have had my license for four years and I finally took a chance and stepped out on faith to do it full time in 2020. Imagine turning in your notice on your full-time job after a nice promotion to do something you love. Then, BOOM, COVID-19 shuts us down. I quietly freaked out in my mind, where I tend to overthink as it is. I always tell others, when something happens, it happens for a reason. So with that being said, the shutdown was not as bad for me as I thought it would be. I ended 2020 with it being my best year in real estate. I am so excited for much more to come in my entrepreneurial expeditions to come. I’m told by friends and family that they never saw me working for someone else forever. I have always been one to try side jobs/hustles. I’ve dabbled in Avon and Mary Kay. I started a mobile boutique, Nina Simone Accessories in 2011, specializing in fashion jewelry and purses. I have since opened my boutique online and added clothing to the line of merchandise. www.ninasimoneaccessories.net I also enjoy hosting events. This year I hosted my 2nd vision board workshop event and looked forward to my next event. My plans are to host a brunch for entrepreneurs and a home buyer workshop, depending on how the Covid season goes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Once I got my real estate license, I tried connecting with a few agents and it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I understand everyone is busy but they were not jumping with joy to help. I did have one agent that did give me some valuable info and I am grateful for him for doing so. Going forward, I have tried to be helpful to other agents or contacts that reach out for help. Paying it forward will not hold you back. My only real struggle was trying to work a full-time job where I had an hour commute and do real estate part-time. It was the main reason I decided to do real estate full time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I enjoy working with sellers and buyers. I eventually want to only work with sellers but for now, I love helping first-time home buyers. Helping clients get prepared to purchase and succeed at doing so is very rewarding. I am not one of those agents that will turn clients away because they are approved for under 100k. I will work with you if you are approved low or high.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people that know me, know that I am Falcons fan and love tailgating but my clients or customers may not know that I am a football fan. I love tailgating and watching the game. I am for the home team! LOL, even though so many here in Atlanta are not!
