Rising Stars: Meet Trevon Lane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevon Lane.

Hi Trevon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up as a child and doing athletic activities, I’ve always had experience putting videos together and uploading on Youtube. However, I never owned my own camera and didn’t see the need for one until my son was born in March of 2019. I originally had plans to always take pictures and videos of memorable moments around the house, similar to those outdated VHS tapes my parents had with my childhood moments. While serving in the United States Army, I would take pictures of co-workers and the environment that surrounded me. After a while, I stopped using my camera then one day, while sitting at home watching music videos, I got the idea to film one myself. I reached out to a close friend around December of 2019 and we instantly got to work! The full video didn’t take long to edit and put together and it came out decent, especially for someone that just shot their first video with no preparation! With the persuasion of others, I continued to film more videos ranging from music videos, short model films, business promotional videos, and more continuing to develop my skills as a videographer.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe there is no such thing as a smooth road! There’s a struggle in every business, especially if you’re running a one man band. There would be times where I didn’t get the results I wanted even though I planned out weeks prior to shooting. There’s times I would travel distance just for a shoot to be canceled or rescheduled and even working a camera consisted of plenty technical difficulties that would interfere with the job at hand. Due to my mistakes and rough patches, I have become knowledgeable in my field as a videographer and I can say that every opportunity to shoot is a learning experience that keeps me motivated to continue to learn more!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the owner of TREDAY VISUALS, LLC. a video production company started in December of 2019. I am known for filming music videos, business promotional videos, short model films, and more! I specialize in making creative visions come to life visually! I am most proud of my ability to take on challenges no matter how big or small! Maintaining an Army career while developing skills as videographer and business owner hasn’t been the easiest goal for me to accomplish but everyday, I strive to make it happen! I highly enjoy the feeling of seeing the smiles on client’s faces once they’ve viewed my completed work and that’s honestly what keeps me going! Versatility is what sets me apart from others, I refuse to just limit myself to only one certain field of film/media when there’s so much to explore out there.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
“How To Talk To Anyone” by Leil Lowndes is currently one of my top reads right now. This books has an abundance of little tips to maintain big success in relationships! I would say it contributes greatly to help develop better communication skills which is important, especially in my line of work! Every day I’m reaching out to potential clients to collaborate, create with, and overall making visions come to life!
