How Travis L. Greene, Jr. Is Redefining Legacy, Leadership & Compassion — Both Online and In Real Life

Travis L. Greene, Jr. is one of those rare young leaders whose purpose shines through everything he touches — whether he’s studying business at Clark Atlanta University, planning to open his own funeral home, or building massively engaged virtual communities on Roblox. His work blends empathy, faith, creativity, and a deep calling to serve others through some of life’s hardest moments. Today, he’s stepping into a powerful new chapter with his documentary A Call to Care, his growing online ministry, and a mission to bring dignity, compassion, and modern leadership to the funeral profession.

Travis is also a content partner, content partners help Voyage in so many ways from spreading the word about the work we do, to sponsoring our mission and collaborating with us on content like this.

Hi Travis, thank you so much for joining us again.  You’ve had such an inspiring journey — from graduating high school to studying business at Clark Atlanta University with plans to open your own funeral home. What first drew you to the funeral industry, and what does this career mean to you personally?

In 2017, I attended both my great-grandparents’ funeral services, both of them passed away at the beginning and end of the year. As I sat in the funeral home chapel, I began to admire the scenery and atmosphere of the funeral services, and that’s where my curiosity arose. This field is not only a career, but it’s also a ministry to me. My mission statement is to care for the deceased and console the living. My purpose is to ease the burdens of grieving families and make the planning process of celebrating their loved ones as easy as possible.

Your Roblox project, T.L. Greene Funeral Home, has built an incredible online community with tens of thousands of followers. What inspired you to create virtual funeral services, and how do you think it’s helping people learn about care, empathy, and the value of ceremony?

My inspiration came from working at the funeral home. My friends and I are a part of a Roblox Church Community, filled with many organizations where we fellowship, share our faith, and grow relationships with God through Roblox and Discord. My roleplay funeral services help teach younger audiences the importance of funeral planning and etiquette. The significance of the Roblox funeral home is that people get to plan funeral services for their Roblox accounts, as if they’re planning a real-life funeral. I personally wanted to show people that the funeral industry is not only about death, but it’s also about how we celebrate lives and legacies.

You’ve also become a leader in the Roblox Church Community, connecting young people around faith and creativity. What has that experience been like, and what do you think makes that community so special?

The role of being a leader in the Roblox Church Community has been tremendous and life-changing. What makes the community so special is that we’re a large youth group who have a passion for spreading the gospel. Most members in our community not only play a serious role in their Roblox ministries, but they’re also in the process of becoming greater leaders at their churches in real life. We simply take the vision of our goals and aspirations and put it into Roblox. While roleplaying in many churches on the Roblox platform, we do this as an act to train ourselves for the real world of church ministries across the globe. We’re not just a bunch of young people who like to “play church,” we are a moving and growing virtual ministry that invites people who have a passion for serving in church.

Your new documentary, A Call to Care, gives viewers an inside look at your journey toward becoming a mortician. What message do you hope people take away from it, and how does it reflect your purpose and passion for service?

The message I hope people take away from my documentary is that caring for bereaved families can make a powerful difference in their lives. At the end of the day, it’s about serving the community and making it through the dark journey of grief as swiftly as possible. My reflection of purpose is that I not only show my empathy through words, but with action. I hope my documentary inspires not only the younger generation of funeral service but everyone in the world that you have the potential to make a difference in the community and build a great legacy through dignity, professionalism, and purpose.

Looking ahead, you’ve already accomplished so much at such a young age. What’s next for you — both in your studies and in your mission to redefine what care and compassion look like in your generation?

There’s so much to think about in my future, I’m very excited to see what it will lead to. In the upcoming years, I will continue the work of obtaining my business administration degree from Clark Atlanta University while expanding my talent and services in the funeral profession. After graduation, I will attend mortuary school to obtain the knowledge of how to be the best funeral service professional and learn the fundamentals and essentials of the funeral business. I will also study for the board exam to obtain my license in funeral directing and embalming. With my license, I will be able to assist other funeral homes not only in metro Atlanta but also in the entire state of Georgia. Once I raise enough money, I will begin opening up my own funeral home in the metro Atlanta area, and from there on, I will forever serve the community with a big heart.
