With Soft Glam Real Talk, Justin Douglas is redefining beauty as a gateway to deeper storytelling—where artistry opens the door, but lived experience drives the impact. Drawing inspiration from his book Soft Glam, Real Talk: A Motivational Manifesto and a decade-long career in beauty, Justin is building a multi-platform media presence that centers resilience, identity, and empowerment. From stepping confidently in front of the camera—including his role in Watch It Part 2 starring Towanda Braxton—to creating spaces where real stories take center stage, his work proves that glam isn’t the destination, it’s the invitation to something more meaningful.
Justin, you’ve built a decade-long career in beauty while expanding into media and storytelling — can you share what inspired you to create Soft Glam Real Talk and why this format felt like the right next evolution of your work?
Soft Glam Real Talk was inspired by my book Soft glam, real talk: a motivational manifestato and my desire to expand beauty into something deeper than a final look. After a decade in the industry, I wanted to create a platform where glam becomes the entry point, but storytelling becomes the transformation. This series felt like the right evolution because it allows me to merge artistry with purpose, and spotlight real people with real journeys.
How does Soft Glam Real Talk challenge traditional beauty content, and what have you learned about confidence, identity, and resilience through the stories you’ve helped bring to light?
Most beauty content is about perfection. Soft Glam Real Talk is about truth. It challenges the industry by showing that confidence isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s built quietly through struggle, survival, and self-discovery. Through these stories, I’ve learned that resilience is often hidden behind the smile, and that beauty becomes even more powerful when it’s connected to identity and real-life experience.
You’re also stepping more visibly in front of the camera, including potential work with Watch It Part 2 — what has this transition from behind-the-scenes creative to on-screen presence meant for you personally and professionally?
This transition has been a powerful full-circle moment. I’ve spent years behind the scenes helping others shine, and now I’m stepping into the spotlight with intention. Being officially cast in (Watch It) Part 2 (a Sis to Sis Production starring Towanda Braxton) represents expansion for me, not just as a makeup artist, but as a media personality and on-screen presence. Personally, it’s affirming. Professionally, it’s proof that my brand is growing into something bigger than beauty.
With projects like Motivational Mondays and your growing media platform, how do you define the legacy you’re intentionally building beyond glam and artistry?
My legacy is about building a platform that outlives trends. Glam is what I do, but impact is what I’m creating. Through Motivational Mondays and my media work, I’m building a digital archive of inspiration, storytelling, and visibility, especially for people who’ve felt overlooked. I want my work to represent evolution, resilience, and cultural influence, not just beauty.
Looking ahead, how do you envision your brand continuing to merge beauty, storytelling, and empowerment as a multi-platform media force?
I see my brand evolving into a full media universe, beauty, television, digital storytelling, and motivational content all working together. I’m building a space where glam becomes the entry point, but the message becomes the takeaway. The goal is to continue expanding into film, media production, and larger platforms while staying authentic to the mission: turning real lives into real visibility.
