Meet Kristen Rajagopal of Bequest in Morningside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Rajagopal.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in Northern Kentucky and went to college at Brown University and law school at the University of Southern California (USC). I worked at large law firms in Atlanta and the San Francisco Bay Area for 10 years, but after the birth of my two sons, I decided that I wanted to help families like mine achieve peace of mind through estate planning.

As a mom, the things that keep me up at night are my boys’ safety and dreams for their future, and as a lawyer, I know that nothing makes a family feel better than to have a solid plan for their loved ones. Today, I help families of all shapes and sizes secure their future plans through Wills and estate plans.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life as a working mom is never smooth sailing! I face challenges every day – from long hours to mom guilt – but the look on my clients’ faces when they tell me that I am improving their lives makes the struggles worthwhile.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in flat fee estate planning. What’s estate planning? It’s drafting a Will or Trust, which legally defines your plans for your assets (house, bank accounts, etc.) and your kids (and fur kids!). I pride myself on making my clients’ lives easier for a reasonable price.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
As a mom of two little boys, I clearly understand the decisions that my clients are facing, and as a well-educated attorney, I know how to help them best achieve their goals.
