Meet Leanne Holmes of L-Stringz Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leanne Holmes.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Leanne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
12 years ago, I walked into a classroom and noticed a lady making music from a box. I asked her what was she making music from and she told me all about the violin and the orchestra. That day, I ran home and told my mom I wanted her to buy me a violin. She didn’t buy me one but we went to the violin store to rent one. The one rule she had was to play the violin for one year but that year passed by quickly and I wound up progressing at a fast rate and joining many of the premier orchestra’s in Atlanta. In high school, I started doing more solo performances as well as volunteering and giving free lessons to children who can’t afford it. Then three years ago I met my mentor Ashanti Floyd “The Mad Violinist” and decided I needed to break from being a part of a group and started “L-Stringz Entertainment. Where I perform different genre’s of music and teach violin lessons.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As far as obstacles, I have definitely had my fair share. Because this concept of playing hiphop and other genres on violin is still a little new, a lot of times the public isn’t sure exactly on what to really listen for. More so my obstacles have been dealing with the classical community who isn’t as accepting of this and also may feel as though I am not as “qualified” to perform just because classical music isn’t my primary genre. Overall, each challenge I have faced has lead me to a greater opportunities as well as opened other’s minds to combining the violin and hiphop.

L-Stringz Entertainment, LLC – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
L-Stringz Entertainment, LLC goal is to provide a “New Music Experience” and is comprised of performing, teaching, and community service. My stage name is L-Stringz which combines my first name (Leanne) and then Stringz (which represents my violin strings). I specialize in not only performing HipHop and RnB but also teaching violin to kids. Additionally, L-Stringz Entertainment focuses on community service via music. This is expressed with free violin lessons/clinics to underprivileged youth and orchestra’s in Atlanta.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There is not one moment in particular I view as a highlight because everything I have done has prepared and elevated me to the next level. I have had so many great opportunities performing for people such as 50Cent, Wale, 2 Chainz, the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Dream, Honda Battle of the Bands, the Atlanta Women in Sports Awards, and more. I am very excited to be hosting my own two week summer camp from June 17th-28th at Saint Luke’s Presbyterian Church. This is open to 3rd-6th graders interested in learning/perfecting their violin skills. (I am currently running an early bird special so go to my website to register!)
