Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the past three years, we have not experienced many struggles at all. We have had an abundance of support and growth beyond what we ever expected.
Respected Roots – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Respected Roots is a natural men’s cosmetic grooming line company headquartered in Atlanta, GA. The company was created in 2015 by two entrepreneurs and great friends, Jason L. Hawkins and Jaret Patterson.
Historically, barbershops have been at the forefront of implementing grooming traditions, but Respected Roots has positioned themselves to be the new golden standard. After noticing a lack of multi-cultural cosmetic grooming lines, Hawkins and Patterson felt that it was time to take matters into their own hands. Respected Roots travels to a number of hair shows and trade shows across the U.S. to introduce and educate consumers about their brand and product benefits. This experiential marketing approach has been pivotal to their substantial growth in three years. Additionally, Respected Roots has heightened brand awareness by hosting multiple events such as pop-up mixers, charitable galas, and fundraising events.

Hawkins and Patterson are both passionate about elevating their platform to restore confidence into communities by promoting positive change and social empowerment. What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to start our non-profit organization, The Brotherhood Initiative. We have partnered with a number of County District offices and school systems within the metropolitan Atlanta area to implement various community revitalization and youth programs. The program curriculum includes:

* Entrepreneurship
* Leadership
* Collegiate Planning and Scholarships
* Effective Communication
* Conflict Resolution
* Etiquette/Grooming Practices
The Respected Roots Brotherhood Initiative recently connected with Atlanta Public Schools to implement their Leaders of Tomorrow Program to focus on inspiring underserved male students through education, enrichment, and empowerment. Hawkins and Patterson share a vision to change the narrative of underserved youth in America by shaping a generation of ingenuitive and innovative thinkers. Participating students gain well-rounded, invaluable leadership skills that prepare them to excel throughout high school, college and adulthood.
