Meet Bea Rutledge of BeaHired in Gwinnett County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bea Rutledge.

BeaHired was founded by Bea Rutledge, a Life Coach and Résumé Writer with 20+ years of experience in the Human Resources Industry. Bea has been responsible for placing well over 10,000 people in new jobs over the course of her career.

Now, the hiring industry may be one you’re not to familiar with, so we asked Bea to give us the rundown on how things work…

Many organizations buy into large career sites such as Indeed, Monster and CareerBuilder to post jobs and search résumés. They are looking for the perfect talent, which is often referred to as the “Purple Squirrel”. The issue with this is the job seeker looking for work doesn’t realize their résumé and skills are in a purchasing market, which surprisingly can limit your résumé exposure. Additionally, not realizing there’s an “underground” market of jobs available with freelance recruiters, smaller businesses and start-up businesses. Jobseekers often second guess the legitimacy of career opportunities not found on popular job boards and are reluctant to apply. That’s where BeaHired comes in.
BeaHired is the best of both worlds. It’s a combined vision for how a job board should function in order to successfully engage candidates and offers transparent and low cost for everyone to use.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The most difficult part is getting individuals to see the benefit of engaging. So many people have become accustomed to going to large job boards and applying with the “throw the spaghetti against the wall and see if it sticks” tactic. They haven’t even opened up to the idea and potential of what happens when you approach a job search strategically. My thought is if one has found success with a DIY or cut and paste résumé, imagine the world of opportunity that awaits with a professionally written résumé. Unfortunately, I’m trying to teach chess to an audience comfortable with playing Roulette.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the BeaHired story. Tell us more about the business.
BeaHired was designed to provide a personal touch to the job search process. More than just a job board, the BeaHired platform is used to give hiring hacks where we break down how to fill out an application to creating a professional résumé. We offer career and life coaching, providing our clients with guidance and plans to achieve their personal goals. By downloading the mobile app, you’ll receive positive affirmations to encourage and motivate you, as well as best practice tips.

We also have networking events in casual environments to put you right in front of business leaders and hiring managers. These events are for both jobseekers and employers and enable you to build long-lasting professional relationships. Ultimately, we have one goal – every job seeker “Bea Hired”!

My goal is for BeaHired, even as it grows, is to always be a personal job search and career advancement tool and not just another job board. It’s important that we remain affordable and personable. But most importantly, BeaHired is designed for the  job-seekers’ success. An employee locating a “Purple Squirrel” is just an added bonus.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wouldn’t want to undermine my mother’s dedication as a parent or my hard work by crediting my life or business to luck. However, I did start my career in a small staffing agency in NYC as a receptionist. I was lucky to have a supervisor who saw my determination and quickly promoted me to recruiter. Over the years I’ve been able to develop my skills, expand my knowledge and evolve personally and professionally. I wouldn’t call it luck and it definitely has not been easy but I continue to strive and remain innovative for the success of my clients. At the end of the day “It’s your girl Bea”, just the girl next door pushing careers like a dope boy. (Haha).
