Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Brooks.
Hi Andrea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, My name is Andrea Brooks. I was born in Hayward, California and when I was five I moved to Jacksonville Florida. After I graduated, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. I wanted to become a nurse just like my mom. I worked for seven years and it wasn’t my passion. I always loved skin in school but didn’t want to stop at Medical Assistant. I looked into Esthetician school in 2017 after I moved back to Jacksonville, Florida. When I enrolled, I fell in love.
After I graduated, I worked at Brazilian Waxing Center for about a year. When I opened my business, I was mobile at first. In April I decided it was time to open my Spa. The reason I name my company Love Beyond Skin is because I want to share with everyone each and every time you walk through my door positive love, energy, hope and experience. Just showing you there is love beyond your skin. It is my way of helping away from healthcare. Shortly after opening, COVID-19 shut me down a few weeks later. Even after a month of being shut down and working seven days until the end of 2020. I’m so proud of how my spa has grown from just one room to now three. I started making all-natural skincare products for the Yoni and full body bars to help with aftercare of waxing and overall health of skin. To help treat and prevent ingrowns and skin discoloration.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I can honestly say it hasn’t been a smooth road but an adventurous one. I have learned to make multiple plans and if one fall, go to the next one. I feel that time management and learning social media was hard for me because I didn’t use it before. I’m still camera shy but I’m learning. But showing your personality and putting yourself out there, It helps and works to get your customers a better understanding of you and your vision.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician and I specialize in Full body waxing, Sugar hair removal, Facials, Vajacials, Body Sculpting and V Steam. I am known for Brazilian Waxing and Vajacial. I am so proud that I just added Sugar hair removal to my services. There are only 3 Spas in Jacksonville, Florida that offer it. It is an all-natural hair removal. I have a passion for waxing. What sets me apart from others is I treat you like family and friends. I talk to my first-time clients before they get undressed and tell them about myself to make them fully comfortable. I want you to come into my Spa and know that it is a safe space to talk about whatever you need to. I cater to skin and spirit while in my Spa.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5 to 10 years I expect 5 storefronts with more estheticians. I will have an institution that specializes in waxing and after treatment. Growing my natural skin care products to be nationwide and to be in stores. Having my company bring so much joy to other lives would be my dream.
