Meet Chuck Lamar of SoundZone Entertainment in Cobb County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Lamar.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chuck. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a native of Atlanta and I have always been passionate about music which started when I was in the womb. I inherited my love for music from my parents. Any time of the day I can see my father singing and acting out the lyrics to Bobby Lewis’ “Tossin’ and Turnin’” or dancing with me to The Gap Band’s “Party Train.” My mother loved Parliament and their Funkadelic sound, but she also loved classical music.

I was about 8 or 9 years old when I became curious of how to record music from the radio. One day, I placed a cassette recorder up against an AM/FM radio and recorded songs onto a Centron cassette tape. The tape’s audio quality was horrible, but as an 8 year old I did not have a clue. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that I could get better audio quality recording music from V103’s “The Fresh Party” on my parents’ component receiver. Just about every week, I sat down and recorded The Fresh Party. I still have a couple of tapes from that time period. My experimentation back then prepared me for what I love to do now which is make people dance.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting and growing a business is very challenging. Fortunately, I have a great supporting cast available when I need advice or guidance. As a startup company, the most difficult part is being patient. It takes a lot of time, patience and capital to grow a business from the ground up, and there are days where you want to see the return on your investment right away.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
I will continue to grow the business by providing excellent value for the client and focusing on their needs. I also plan to increase my social media presence to promote SoundZone Entertainment and incorporate weddings as an additional service.
