Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Partee.
Hi Tanya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story. My story really began with my passion for teaching at 11 years old. I would set up a chalk board, a kid-sized folding table and four kid-sized folding chairs on my front porch to teach math to the 8 year-olds that lived on my street during the summer. I felt excited every day to hold class, connect with my students and grade the worksheets that I hand wrote daily for my three students. Teaching was my passion. I now know that what excites you is your passion. Your gifts and your talents expand on your passion and ultimately lead you to your purpose in life. PASSION + GIFTS AND TALENTS= PURPOSE
However, like many of us, I chose a different path. My parents had always said I had a knack for arguing my points and after a school field trip to see a mock trial at Hofstra University, I decided that I wanted to become a lawyer. I followed the traditional educational route –high school, university and then law school.
I graduated and made the parents very proud. But unbeknownst to me, I was embarking on decades of feeling like a square peg in a round hole. It got to a point in my late 40’s that I felt like there was supposed to be more to my life than what I was doing. I was not living in my full brightness in this world. I followed the path that was expected of me, but I was dying inside and did not know why or how to fix it. I knew that I was not totally dead because I would see small glimpses of light when my gifts, talents and passion crossed paths. In those moments, I felt elated, energized, grateful to God, honored and centered with the Universe. From the outside looking in—I had a successful law practice and then I was able to transition into a successful career as a corporate in-house attorney, yet I fought the “imposter syndrome” often. Now, as a mindset coach, I get to use my gift of empathy to help people open up to share their story and my gift of teaching to provide the tools and resources to help them get to where they want to go.
I used to envy Oprah Winfrey, but not for why you may think. It was not because she was a successful talk show host, a media mogul and billionaire. I envied her because she identified and understood her gift early in her life and was able to develop it on a level that has brought her the ability to impact the world. She is the best I have seen on mastering that human connection. It is effortless how she opens people up to feel comfortable enough to share their story from which others can learn from. Oprah makes a living operating in her natural gift and purpose. When people operate in their gift—they are bolder—they play at a higher level—they shine brighter and they make a greater impact in this world. I now know that I operate in my gift when I teach women how to heal from heartbreak trauma, help them find their passion and help them design the life they desire for themselves.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been obstacle free. However, my intentional journey of self-discovery has led to the breakthroughs I needed to find my passion and purpose. Along the way, I learned the strategies and techniques that keep me focused and allow me to create the life I desire for myself.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
